California Preschool Data Collection (CAPSDAC)

Resources and information on new requirements of California State Preschool Program (CSPP) contractors for collecting child data for each child enrolled as well as educator data in a CSPP operated by an LEA, including applicable data elements that are collected for children in Transitional Kindergarten as well as applicable data that are collected for educators in the K–12 classroom setting, as provided, will be detailed on this page pursuant to the requirements of Education Code (EC) Section 60910, enacted through Assembly Bill (AB) 22 in 2022. The CAPSDAC was established for data collection, which will be submitted in the form of monthly submissions.

Service providers in receipt of child care funds from the California Department of Education (CDE) to deliver care and/or provide instruction are required to employ qualified staff with appropriate child development permits. Child Development Management Information System (CDMIS)

The federal government requires states to collect data about families served with child care services funds. In addition, State and federal legislators require data about the Early Education Division’s programs and services in order to develop public policy for child care and development services in California, and to justify funding changes to expand availability of services throughout the State. The Child Development Management Information System (CDMIS) was created to collect these required data. CDMIS also provides useful reports and management tools for contractors. This section explains the features of CDMIS including how to submit your monthly data through a secure Web site. Please note that in addition to CDMIS, there is currently a separate reporting system for Resource and Referral programs.

Beginning July 1, 2008, the Early Education Division (EED) will notify Executive Directors and Program Directors of EED contract agencies by e-mail only regarding critical documents and new instructions or requirements. All Executive Directors and Program Directors who contract with EED are required to subscribe. In addition, EED contractors and any other interested organizations or persons may subscribe to the Program Information e-mail list to receive periodic and updated information on EED programs and services.
