“Everyone’s born a champion, it’s about finding out what you’re a champion at.” Para sprinter and multiple gold medallist, Thomas Young, found his love for sport through his old teacher. In partnership with Irwin Mitchell, we took Thomas back to his primary school near Coalville to meet Mr McMillan, the person who introduced him to athletics and told him to never give up. Sharing running techniques and answering questions from pupils, Thomas helped inspire the next generation by showing them that sport is for everyone, and school is a building block for success 🙌 If we imagine what’s possible, nothing feels impossible. "The thing I’m most proud of in sport, is taking up the opportunity when it presented itself, not being scared, putting fear in the backseat and just going for it.” In partnership with Irwin Mitchell, we sent para discus thrower and triple international medal winner, Harrison Walsh, back to Oystermouth school, in Mumbles to reflect on his journey to this point. “Everything in my childhood was just about giving it a go.” When she was younger, wheelchair racer and world record holder, Hannah Cockroft, was the first and only disabled child to attend Wainstalls School in Halifax. In partnership with Irwin Mitchell, we took Hannah back to school to share her journey and show the pupils that there are no barriers when it comes to sport🙌 She gave pupils the chance to ask questions, see her medals and join her in a P.E. lesson to help them focus on what they can do, not what they can’t.
