February 2024 Birth Club

So irritating

I can't stand when everything you read about 37 weeks, screams that the baby isn't yet. Nothing is developed! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. Come. On. I have six kids and #7 on the way. All born between 36-38 weeks. Baby come, when baby comes. Stop stressing moms out stupid websites!

  • Yesss to this. I gave birth to my first baby at 23 weeks. She passed that same night. After this I read so much about preterm birth and the percentage of survival depending on the gestational age they were born at. To me, personally, I have celebrated each time my pregnacies make it past the 28 week mark and I can relax and think to myself, ok baby if you need to come out already, you are ok. You will be ok. Donโ€™t attack me for this. It is MY personal experience, MY journey and my doctor understands me and supports me. Now we are beyond happy that we made it past the 36 weeks, so for me, I consider my baby fully cooked now at 37+4. Idc what these websites say. Baby will be ok if decides to come now
  • I am on baby #7 all my children but 1 were born on my 37 week, the 1 that wasnโ€™t was born at 36 weeks! Every single one of them were completely healthy! Needed no assistance or anything !!
  • This is my 7th and all mine were born just a couple days before/on/after their due dates except 1 (he was a week and a half late). I am hoping this one comes any day now. All my kids have been over 8lbs. My late comer was over 10lbs and I had quite a few complications afterwards. Really hoping this one comes soon!!

  • Some babies may be ready at 37 weeks but there's a reason doctors no longer do elective induction at that gestation. The chance of complications is greater. For example, my brother born around 37 weeks was the only one of my 5 siblings to get jaundice. (The rest of us were born in the 39th week.) We are all ready to be done being pregnant by 37 weeks but for most of us, what's best for baby is patience until 39+ weeks. That's why those cautions are out there.
  • What Iโ€™ve read is that babies that naturally come at 37 weeks on their own do pretty much as well as babies that come later. Itโ€™s just the babies that are induced at 37 weeks that have slightly higher risks for needing a little more assistance which is now why they usually donโ€™t induce at 37 weeks unless itโ€™s medically necessary. Iโ€™m here, 37w3d and having lots of cramps and just lost my mucus plug. So baby could stay in another few weeks but is showing signs she could come sooner and I feel confident she will be fine either way at this point

My second was at 40+2 and he was jaundice.
  • I feel like itโ€™s worse on the other end of things and if youโ€™re beyond 39 weeks, itโ€™s a rush to get the baby out! Clearly babies can come anytime between 37-42 weeks and we should just all let it happen when itโ€™s meant to.
  • Lol well my midwives say 37 weeks is full term so leave people alone lol. Just bc you keep having kids doesn't make you an expert hahahaha
