Known as synchronised swimming until 2017, this sport became an Olympic event for the first time in Los Angeles at the 1984 Olympic Games.
Athletes now compete in duet and team events, with the solo event seen at previous Games now no longer a featured event.
Olivia Clark and Olivia Federici featured for Great Britain at both London 2012 and Rio 2016, while Kate Shortman and Isabelle Thorpe made their Olympic debuts in Tokyo.
