Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced Michigan Strategic Fund (MSF) approval for projects that will enhance the communities of Grand Rapids and Northville and ensure a legacy manufacturer in Greenville continues to call Michigan home. “Today’s approved projects will drive more than $740 million of investment, creating and protecting up to 566 jobs while making our cities better places to live, work, and invest,” said Governor Whitmer. “By supporting upgrades along the Grand Rapids riverfront including housing, greenspace, and entertainment hubs, we can help the city grow, bringing more families and businesses to the area. By retaining a longstanding manufacturer in Greenville, we can protect an economic engine of Montcalm County, supporting long-term growth. And by safely turning a contaminated site in Northville into a horse track and public park, we can improve quality of life for local residents. All of these projects are park of our comprehensive economic development strategy to help anyone ‘make it’ in Michigan.” https://lnkd.in/gVK8d7PR

Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Dr. Beverly Walker-Griffea, director of the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP), recently reminded families that they can still enroll 4-year-olds in free, high-quality pre-K through their local school district. The recent historic investment in Pre-K for All included in the state’s new budget will allow nearly 59,000 four-year-olds across the state to access free pre-K. As of August 15, enrollment has expanded to all families regardless of income level, while continuing to prioritize families who need it most. https://lnkd.in/gcBWu_gD

Vaccines are critical to help keep the public healthy and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) urges Michigan residents and families to get caught up and stay up-to-date on vaccines as part of National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM). “As we start getting our families ready for school in the fall, it’s a good time to catch up on routine vaccinations,” said Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian, chief medical executive. “Vaccinating on time and following the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommended schedule is the best protection against serious diseases like measles, hepatitis A, polio and cancers caused by HPV. Together we can protect Michigan children, families and communities. Make an appointment with your health care provider, find a local pharmacy or contact your local health department for more information.” https://lnkd.in/gHnuQi2p
