Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of English at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for six full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty positions (#123030, #123110, #123135, #123420, #123530, and #123570) at the rank of lecturer. These are one-year temporary appointments with possible annual renewal for up to three years. The start date for the appointments is August 1, 2024.
Successful candidates will teach courses such as first-year writing and general education literature as needed to satisfy a full-time teaching workload every year.
Required Education
Applicants are required to have one of the following three degrees by the appointment date:

- Master of Arts in any of the following disciplines: English, linguistics, rhetoric/composition, or professional/technical writing
- Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing
- Master of Arts in a closely related field with a minimum of 18 hours of graduate coursework with prefixes in English, linguistics, or technical writing
Applicants who possess any or all of the following will receive special consideration.
- PhD or DA in English, linguistics, rhetoric/composition, or professional/technical writing
- two or more years of full-time experience teaching college-level writing classes
- experience teaching general education English classes in a blended format
- experience teaching developmental English courses
