Here's how you can drive organizational change during your internship with interns.

During internship, one can drive organizational change by actively participating & encouraging fellow interns to share innovative ideas. To start with, identify areas that need improvement & then propose practical solutions in team meetings. Communicate openly with supervisors, seeking feedback & showing a willingness to adapt. Collaborate with other interns to implement small changes that align with the company’s goals. Organize regular brainstorming sessions & create a supportive environment where everyone feels valued. By demonstrating initiative, teamwork & a positive attitude, one can make a meaningful impact.

Foster a collaborative and innovative environment where ideas are encouraged, and contributions are valued. Suppose you're interning at a marketing agency tasked with improving social media engagement. You might organise brainstorming sessions with fellow interns to generate creative strategies and tactics. Change management is unique and tailored according to the organization's culture, process, and strategic approach.  From my experience, the sponsor or decision-makers play an important role in change management. Their serious approach to CHANGE not only facilitates smooth adaptation and minimizes resistance, but also empowers them to drive successful outcomes.

It involves recognizing the drivers and dynamics of change, as well as its potential impacts on individuals, organizations, and broader contexts. Individuals who possess a deep understanding of change are better equipped to anticipate shifts in their environments, adapt their strategies and behaviors accordingly, and capitalize on emerging opportunities. Moreover, understanding change fosters resilience and agility, enabling individuals to navigate uncertainty and ambiguity with confidence and grace. By embracing change as a natural and inevitable part of life, individuals can cultivate a mindset of curiosity, openness, and continuous learning, positioning themselves to thrive in dynamic and evolving landscapes.

Relationships are so important. When you have relationships, people can see that you care. Most people will bend over backwards to help you if they think you care. It’s so much easier to see when there’s a good relationship.

We need to build relationships to achieve our desired future state. We should welcome new ideas and increase our acceptance level, regardless of our position. It creates collaboration, respect, trust, and synergy, enabling teams to work effectively together and achieve shared goals. I still remember when we were implementing ISO 9001. The machine operator gave us an excellent idea of how to improve the process to increase productivity.

Building relationships can be daunting, especially if you find it difficult to approach people. The key is to understand the settings and methods that make it easier for you to connect. Start building relationships in familiar settings, such as team meetings or casual breaks, to reduce anxiety. Approach colleagues with genuine interest, active listening, and questions to show you value their expertise. Seek mentorship by identifying experienced colleagues who can guide and support you. Participate in social activities to get to know colleagues personally and demonstrate reliability by consistently meeting deadlines and commitments. Remember that your internship is a learning opportunity - use it to grow and attract supportive mentors.

One thing I found really useful in my career is to focus on closing gaps between teams that work in silo. Building relationships becomes crucial as we working closer together which also means sharing knowledge to straighten the way we work. This approach enables simplification, sharing new ideas and practices making us work is a more trusting and productive way. Yes.. removing silo approach which teams tend to fall into.

Engage in active listening by attentively considering feedback provided by peers and superiors. Demonstrate how the suggested modifications are in accordance with the overarching vision and objectives of the organization. In occasions when it doesn’t, it can course resentment, ill feeling , negative feedback as we know it. Having a post activity review or post change review will uncover new learnings. Understanding what challenges were encountered during the activity implementation and a collective effort on sharing individual insights will help tweak the processes and lessen or eliminate risks. It will increase productivity and will give the team additional time to focus on other tasks.

In my experience .. the benefits of reflecting on your learning are that It can demostraste how your thinking grows and develops over time. Assist with making connections between what you already know and what you are learning. Help you learn from mistakes by identifying how you would do things differently next time. Making this process extremely valuable to all involved.
