We have redesigned the Wikibase landing page to use a template for its content, matching the mediawiki.org landing page. The new page simply calls the template and should not be in the translation system any more.
Project:Village Pump
The template Template:Wikibase main page is only used on Wikibase. I propose moving the template directly to Wikibase.
My understanding was that the indirect template inclusion was necessary to implement the custom stylesheet via "templatestyles". Is that in fact unnecessary to have a custom stylesheet?
It seems that the base page does not need to be a template, as it can be written as src=":Wikibase/styles.css".
Hello all,
The next language community meeting is scheduled in a few weeks - May 31st at 16:00 UTC. If you're interested, you can sign up on this wiki page.
This is a participant-driven meeting, where we share language-specific updates related to various projects, collectively discuss technical issues related to language wikis, and work together to find possible solutions. For example, in the last meeting, the topics included the machine translation service (MinT) and the languages and models it currently supports, localization efforts from the Kiwix team, and technical challenges with numerical sorting in files used on Bengali Wikisource.
Do you have any ideas for topics to share technical updates related to your project? Any problems that you would like to bring for discussion during the meeting? Do you need interpretation support from English to another language? Please reach out to me at ssethi(__AT__)wikimedia.org and add agenda items to the document here.
We look forward to your participation!

The Tech blog link in the sidebar in Vec2022 seems to link to [.///techblog.wikimedia.org/ //techblog.wikimedia.org/], instead of https://techblog.wikimedia.org/. Can an interface admin please update this? Thanks!
Done
Wow. I guess this has been broken for 4 years and just nobody noticed. Unless it is a regression in the skin system.
.... apenas gostaria de manter links externos registrados para consultas posteriores , se este não é o espaço , poderia ,e conduzir ao espaço correto.
There are a lot of blogging sites out there you can use to write pages and add links. Even your browser has a feature called "bookmarks" where you can save links.
I tried to fix a broken link on this page Professional development and consulting at an external link that goes to Yaron Koren's Working with Mediawiki book but it returned an error, please how do i fix it ?
This has been fixed, thanks
Also on this page User:Wladek92, i found this link to be incorrect https://doc.wikimedia.org/mediawiki-core/master/php/classMessage.htmlCan this be used to replace it ??
you should report the incorrect link on the disussion page associated to the article as described in the first steps for beginners.
I think after having created your account 4 days ago better is to start by learning the first steps of how to contribute.
Thanks @Wladek92, i have already begun doing that, thankfully the documentations are quite detailed, but i would appreciate some help fixing this...if you have pointers i would be happy if you can share
Hello, i would like to improve the template with the insertion of user link (Template:User link) with other wiki project. Example : ws produce Sicarov (ws·wp·wc). It would be very useful to switch beetween projet and promote other wikiproject.
I discover this improvment when i see red link on this page : https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikim%C3%A9dia_France/Groupes_de_travail/Groupes_locaux/Strasbourg
Someone can propose something like that ?
It is hardcoded on the page you linked to, no template is used for it there. I don't see that this would be useful enough to justify complicating the template for it.
The user model allows you to touch all wikis, this is not a modification to be made lightly. The goal is to help link wiki accounts of the same user more easily. The code to do doesn't seem that complicated to me. It will only add parameters for the language and the wiki in order to offer two or three links to the user's other wiki pages. =>User:Sicarov (w·s·c) => Sicarov
To put the code links in the model parameters, here is the page Help:Interwiki linking.
If it's too complex, can we create an improve user template ?
i see the complexity, with wiki without langage, le link not working. I made at test on wikisource... https://fr.wikisource.org/wiki/Mod%C3%A8le:User*/Test
For example, the link to "pre 1.1.0" on the Manual:$wgSitename/ja page is broken.
Make the following changes:
- Replace "pre 1.1.0" with "before 1.1.0" in the argument "version_min" of SettingSummary.
- Make "before 1.1.0" translatable (in the template).
Done. You can translate this string in Template:SettingSummary
- You can find this message translated into additional languages on Meta-wiki. Please help translate to your language

Hi! I've been doing a lot of work lately on gadgets, and I find myself wanting to create documentation pages for specific gadgets. I created ProveIt and MiniEdit already, but would like to create several more which are currently redirects (OWIDPopup, Vivarium, Formicarium, ExcerptTree DownloadPDF, InlineSearch), and more. I could create them and categorize them and be done, but I'm thinking it would be neater to have a "Gadget" namespace or pseudo-namespace, similar to "Extension" and "Skin". What do you think? Are pseudo-namespaces frowned upon? Can a proper "Gadget" namespace be defined? Would it create a problem if the "Gadget" and "Gadget definition" namespaces of Extension:Gadgets ever get enabled in MediaWiki.org? Thanks!
(Sophivorus asked me directly elsewhere.)
@Sophivorus That sounds fine to me.
The use case for these namespaces (Gadgets 2.0) has not gone away, and is still actively being worked on. But, the latest version of MediaWiki no longer requires custom namespaces to implement them, we have content models instead. Which means if/when Gadgets 2.0 gets completed and deployed to mediawiki.org (which I hope it does!), it will not clash with these documentation pages.
In February earlier this year, I have updated the Gadgets extension to completely remove these namespace definitions, thus making it clear that is no longer reserved in any way.
More details in T31272#9574679, and T31272#9574686, and the linked code changes on Gerrit.
The "usemod" interwiki prefix must be updated from http://www.usemod.com/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?$1 to https://www.usemod.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?$1 It appears that the former URL was acquired by someone whom we do not want to link to. Originally reported in this spot.
m:Talk:Interwiki map is the correct venue for this. I'll handle it in a few days when my meta RfA passes if nobody else does.
Thanks a lot for the pointer. I was already wondering who may be permitted to change the interwiki. I just added the request at m:Talk:Interwiki_map#usemod as a service for you to work on once you have the required permissions.
