I agree with concept of knowledge transfer with the tangible aspect of the transfer being wisdom in action which is not only believable but witnessed in duplicating fashion. Networking works best for me when my goal is broad to build relationships and meet some people who I may choose to add to my circle rather than having a specific business outcome in mind and connecting with the usual suspects. Ironically, by being open minded and starting conversations with people who, at first glance, don't appear to be similar to me, I've unlocked a font of information and been connected to vast networks very different from mine. If I talk to someone for 5 minutes, I'm going to find common interests and opinions.
