Pode-se começar com pequenas coisas, mas é importante escutar, acolher e valorizar cada ideia. Quando as pessoas se sentem valorizadas, isso encoraja os demais, que são contagiados pelo ambiente. Já vivenciei ambientes em que a cultura da inovação era muito valorizada, observando um ambiente mais feliz e inspirador, pois o sentimento era de pertencimento e crescimento de ideias.

I believe that encouraging creativity and analytical thinking within and appreciating good initiatives can help create an innovative and solution-oriented culture within the team. Seeking and actively listening to new ideas from the team members is also a good step. Recognizing and rewarding those who have come up with innovative ideas would also serve as a motivating factor.

Fostering culture of curiosity can drive innovation and continuous improvement by encouraging people to seek new knowledge and explore different perspectives. Curious person always have insightful questions and they take challenges and remain open to new ideas and solutions. This attitude can inspire the team to adopt a similar mindset, fostering a culture of learning and creativity. Curiosity helps to stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies, enabling you to make more informed and strategic decisions.

Fostering a culture of curiosity is foundational for creative thinking. Encourage your team to ask questions and challenge the status quo. This can be achieved by creating an open forum for sharing ideas, where no suggestion is deemed too far-fetched. By valuing diverse perspectives and backgrounds, you can unlock a treasure trove of innovative concepts that might otherwise remain hidden. Remember, a curious mind is never satisfied with the first answer, and it's this relentless pursuit of 'what if' that leads to breakthrough innovations.

Government policy teams can fear failure in a deeply personal sense. Under our constant work programme pressures, we may not have time to self review what happened and determine whether it was a failure of ideas, a failure of process and resource, or a failure of timing. This uncertainty feeds self doubt. If we regard our advice and ideas as an external manifestation of our own intellect and judgement, then failure becomes personal. When we remind ourself that our advice is simply the point we reached within the commissioning's permission space, timing, tools, research, voices, and resources available to us, then we can de-personalise it, learn from it, and - as a bonus - have a much stronger and more confident response to: "What's next?"

I am not sure that Failure is a milestone I recognize. We start a project with a scope, a schedule and a budget. The budget has some provision for circumstances that change or were not considered fully. The schedule must be maintained at all costs since most projects are finance and Schedule driven. We had better understand the project scope and technical implications before we start. It is also important that we have the proper manpower in numbers and experience) in place to support the effort required. Let me emphasis the importance of the schedule on manpower available to satisfy the schedule. This subject can go on and on.

Leaders need to walk the talk and show that they can be vulnerable and share fails without repercussion. Create "Fail Fridays" and share your F ups and learnings. Other leaders need to celebrate each others vulnerability and create an environment where EVERYONE is safe to fail, otherwise it backfires and people can use people's mistakes and failures as ammunition which defeats the whole purpose. FAIL FAST FAIL OFTEN!

If your effort is in the unknown (science or policy or other hypothetical adventures)to start with the chances for failure are huge. When that is your task you need to address the time line to acknowledge what is possible and what is not. You can’t continue with “ I think I can, I think I can without addressing “I can’t.“Someone needs to be responsible to say no more for now. No one needs to feel guilty. Maybe there needs to be another time or another starting point.

Offer opportunities for continuous learning through workshops, seminars, online courses, and conferences. Provide cross-functional training to expose employees to different areas of the business, broadening their perspectives and sparking new ideas.

I have found it helpful to encourage side hustles. When people follow their passion the company benefits from a whole and happy human who is capable of bringing that energy into the company.

Equipping your team with the right tools can significantly enhance their creative capabilities. This includes access to collaborative platforms, creative software, or even time to pursue passion projects related to work. By investing in resources that facilitate innovation, you demonstrate your commitment to nurturing an inventive atmosphere. When employees have the means to bring their ideas to life, it's amazing what they can achieve.

Make everyone part of your Vision and Mission. If your vision is inspiring enough - your team will become a machine and will keep on creating leaders who own up to things without your explicit involvement. Build a nice Culture - empower your team with resources and compassion. Compassion and Empathy can go a long way to encourage autonomy - if your team is thinking like you - they know what to do and they will bring their best out without you micromanaging them. If your team feels safe and accountable in owning up to their projects, they will go the extra mile to surprise your clients with fabulous results. I am blessed to have an excellent team that focuses on client delight first and billable hours later.

YOU DO YOU (no really). How you do this is by empowering people with fully clear outcomes and discharge freedom and accountability for them to achieve this in their own way. No more micro managing and no switching goal posts when people are out and about doing their best work, leave the people to be creative and empower them with the ownership of their day.

I absolutely love building diverse teams, this has only ever been an issue once and the issue wasn't from the diversity it was from a lack of communication. When diverse teams connect and create spaces to share their ideas, you can naturally tap into a world of new learning, ideas, hobbies that can serve as inspiraton for the team.

This is a topic close to my heart! To get the best creativity from employees, we need to forego the mechanical way and imbibe emotions, inspire thought process and intoxicate the mind. To get the employees' creative juices flowing, we need a charismatic leader who can drive out the fear and touch the minds of employees. This can be accomplished by various means - inclusiveness, rewards, recognition, appreciation, care, and/or simply take the employees for a workshop to an exotic place and get their best creative ideas for innovation!

Create Cross-Functional Teams: Allow employees from different departments to work together on projects. This can help break down silos and enable the cross-pollination of ideas. Also, Host Ideation Sessions: Regularly organize structured brainstorming sessions or workshops that encourage creative thinking.

The diverse team; the safe atmosphere; the purpose; the respect to differences. The most important for creativity is to set the ground, to let people feel absolutely safe and free to propose silly ideas, brainstorm without the fear of being laughed at. Out of "silly" ideas often a new approach can be born. Use the people difference: let introverts think about the topic in advance, give extraverts the possibility to discuss it loud in a team. Let people come to the "flow" and be there for a while to generate ideas. Allow time to overwork the original ideas. The team should be diverse. One needs not only the "generators of ideas", but also people who could "connect the dots" and apply the idea to a different context, enrich with details.
