Freedom of movement—walking, going up and down stairs, getting off the floor, completing daily tasks, exercising—are just a few of the activities that many of us take for granted. But for people living with ALS, these often become difficult to do. Physical and occupational therapy can help. Physical therapy (PT) is the use of exercises and treatments to improve mobility. For example, a physical therapist might prescribe stretching exercises to limit discomfort or use pool therapy to help you walk and improve joint function. Occupational therapy (OT) is similar but focuses on the physical skills needed to perform everyday tasks. An occupational therapist may help you find new ways to brush your teeth or recommend equipment to make your daily living activities easier. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eTeKqdEi
