Sony is proud to support FourBlock, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting returning service members in their transition from military service to meaningful civilian careers. Last week, we held an Interviewing Successfully session for program participants at our San Diego headquarters. This session paired participants with #TeamSony volunteers to practice mock interviews and explore strategies for navigating this next chapter of their careers. #SonyCares

We are thrilled to share that we succeeded in our goal of eliminating plastic packaging from newly designed small products (some exceptions apply) using alternative materials by March 31, 2024, as part of the #SonyRoadtoZero environmental plan!   For example, Sony's Alpha 7 IV full-frame interchangeable-lens camera bodies are now packaged in a non-woven bag made mainly of plant cellulose (excluding coatings and adhesives), instead of a non-woven plastic bag. Similarly, parts such as batteries and cables are also packaged in this kind of non-woven fabric bag or one made of paper instead of plastic. Even bands for straps and cables are now made of paper instead of plastic.   Huge thanks to the dedicated #TeamSony members whose passion and hard work made this accomplishment possible. We look forward to sharing more details soon. #EarthMonth #Sustainability

Sony Electronics is proud to be a founding member of the Consumer Technology Association's Consumer Technology Circularity Initiative (CTCI). Announced at #CES, this is a voluntary industry initiative to reduce waste, encourage more reuse, enhance recycling, reduce climate impact, and see less disposal of consumer electronics. Beyond addressing e-scrap collection and recycling, CTCI addresses climate impacts and product and process innovations for repair, reuse and recycled content, expanding on the EPA’s Waste Management Hierarchy first developed in the 1980s, which led to the “3 Rs” of reduce, reuse recycle. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eQtBdrjJ #EarthMonth

Say hello to Ken Friedman, San Jose site lead for our Environment employee network (eNet). With an interest in beach cleanups, bike to work day, and recycling, Ken helps coordinate programs such as battery recycling and e-waste collection. He also participates in clothing and blanket drives for the needy, which provide employees with an alternative to discarding these items.  This #EarthMonth, Ken is most excited about enjoying the beauty of our planet through bike rides, runs, and playing tennis. #Sustainability

Did you know? The packaging for products like Sony's #aibo is made with post-market recycled PET bottles. ♻️ Sony designers developed the packaging with the planet in mind, as part of our effort to minimize our environmental footprint under #SonyRoadtoZero. This thoughtful approach reflects Sony's dedication to innovative design that not only enhances user experience, but also contributes positively to the planet. As part of our commitment to reducing our plastic consumption under the #SonyRoadtoZero environmental plan, we are phasing out and eliminating single-use plastic across our internal operations. At company cafes, shops, and elsewhere, we will no longer be providing plastic straws, cups, or shopping bags, and switch to reusable containers as needed. This initiative extends from work life to our everyday routine. We encourage #TeamSony to stop using single-use plastic, and switch to reusable bottles and bags as we raise environmental awareness.
