When last weekend Lando Norris broke Max's trophy, i came up with the idea of writing something about the real value of Formula 1 trophies. With my disappointment, i did not find any specific price or production costs othwr than the Hungarian ones, but only collaborations with some luxory brands and i concentrated myself on them. A constant challenge that Cielo has been able to interpret by taking ceramics beyond known limits, offering the market new shapes, dimensions, thicknesses, surfaces and colours. 
Cielo is now sharing this challenge by taking to the track once again alongside Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber in the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship, driven by a drive to constantly improve and achieve exemplary results together. The team, in a bold move to promote the film Ocean's Twelve, adorned their cars with real diamonds worth $300,000 each. Actual diamonds on the race cars. Christian Klien, driving for Jaguar, was part of this extraordinary narrative. The tale took an unexpected turn right from the get-go. On the very first lap, Klien's encounter with the Monaco circuit's unforgiving barriers not only ended his race prematurely but also led to the disappearance of the diamond affixed to his car's nosecone. The incident sparked a flurry of speculation and intrigue, with theories ranging from the diamond being pocketed by onlookers to it being swept away with race debris. Despite extensive searches and widespread media attention, the diamond's fate remains a mystery to this day. However, there is a surprising difference in the sectors tapping into the men’s and women’s pro scene. When it comes to the main bodies and events*, luxury brands account for 3x the share of sponsors in the men’s game than women’s, whilst electronics, technology and media account for 3x the share in women’s compared to men! Sports Retail brands are the top investors in the men’s game – accounting for 24% of sponsorship, partly through sub sectors including equipment. The global golf equipment market is expected to reach $9.6 million by 2023 (Allied Market Research, 2018) and brands like Titleist are gaining major exposure through shirt, sleeve, cap and club activations. In comparison, Sports Retail contributes only 8% in women’s golf – where Electronics, Technology & Media brands hold the highest portion at 26%. In 2015, printing brand Ricoh announced the extension of their title sponsorship of the British Women’s Open – already one of the longest serving sponsors in women’s golf. 2018 was their ninth year as title sponsor and third renewal, made in a move said by President and CEO, Zenji Miura to, “bring us closer to customers and build relationships with the communities in which we work. In the world of sport as is in the world of business, both imagination and a passion for change are key to driving success.” The appeal of golf to Luxury Goods brands is unsurprising considering their values and target markets. The sector is the second highest investor behind Sports Retail in the the men’s elite competitions contributing 21.8% of total investment, compared to just 6.8% in women’s. One brand notably bucking that trend is Rolex who are particularly prevalent in both men’s and women’s golf, sponsoring governing bodies and majors in each. Despite holding an official sponsorship with the US PGA major at Bethpage Black 2019, Omega Watches doesn’t target the women’s game. Men make up around 67% of the golfing population in Europe according to KPMG (2017). Sport England’s Active Lives Survey found that 3.7% of England’s total male population participate in golf. Interesting how watches replaced tobacco in F1 as easily identifiable products. The ban on tobacco advertising did lead to some imaginative creative workrounds though. I remember Benson & Hedges cigarettes being promoted through a variety of phrases such as 'Bitten & Hisses' using brand colours of gold and black. The link between precision engineering and craftsmanship is obvious, with the luxury watch an obvious and easily worn item by drivers. How often do we see them hastily putting on the right watch immediately after the race, ahead of heavily televised interviews? The key association between Luxury and 'Beautiful People' is clear. Luxury and F1 are a perfect match - aspirational, glamorous, driven by excellence not fashion or trends. It is an industry-wide collaboration that adds value to both parties, influencing the brands we buy, and so will endure. #luxurybrands #luxurycars #luxurywatches #helencooperluxury

When I was just 14 years old, I was one of the first individuals on Earth to discover the Bugatti Bolide. Random story time... It was during the autumn of 2020 when, as a writer for DriveTribe, I stumbled upon an intriguing teaser on Bugatti's Instagram. The teaser consisted of a single number: '0.67'. With my knowledge of cars (and a ridiculous amount of luck), I deduced that it represented the remarkable weight-to-power ratio of a car that had been undergoing secret testing at the iconic Le Mans circuit, disguised in camouflage. Driven by my curiosity, I decided to reach out to Bugatti, hoping to learn more about this mysterious vehicle. To my astonishment, they believed in my passion and granted me exclusive access to information about the car, appointing me as a media partner for the much-anticipated unveiling of the Bolide, also known as 'BXX' at that time. Upon reflection, the most challenging part wasn’t producing the article itself or liaising with members of the DriveTribe team to get information about the car on our social media platforms. The biggest challenge was, and I mean this in all seriousness, keeping the whole thing a secret from my friends at school. Back then, I was merely a 14-year-old with an insatiable love for cars. So, my life remains unchanged nearly three years later. However, I am now closer than ever to realising my dream of making a mark in the world of automotive journalism. Perhaps I will achieve it soon—perhaps I won’t. Either way, I’ve loved every step of this journey. Huge thank you to BUGATTI and Marie-Louise Rustenbach for having faith in me back then. Whether it’s contributing pieces to titles such as Autocar or Practical Classics; or becoming the youngest ever member of The Guild of Motoring Writers; all of it is a result of your support all those years ago.
