We are spotlighting 🌟 our associates as we celebrate and discuss Black History Month, and we're kicking things off with Co-Founder of the Black Advocate Alliance at Family Dollar – Verlaine Quinniey, MPA. Verlaine started with Dollar Tree | Family Dollar as an AB Project Specialist, but her passion shone brightest when she took over our College Recruiting Manager role, leading our internship program to be named one of the top 100 🎉companies for students in 2023. Verlaine thrives on connection in her personal life as well. She and her daughter have been celebrating Black History Month in their community, often learning about different cultural experiences and new black-owned businesses. The Black Advocate Alliance Associate Resource Group at Family Dollar kicked off Black History Month with part one of a four-part series titled Quest For Success that will focus on professional development and career pathing for our associates. The first session was titled “Trek of the Trailblazer” where leaders from our stores and home office shared how they’ve trail-blazed to achieve success. The dialogue covered various topics, notably emphasizing the importance of authenticity — urging individuals to remain true to themselves despite challenges. The panelists also addressed the critical theme of breaking misconceptions, highlighting the significance of dispelling preconceived notions. Thank you to our moderator Stephenie Powell and our panelists Tyrone Ware, Kimberly Armstrong, Douglas Tokio Lambert and Lakecia Gassett, SHRM-CP.
