Not having a college degree inspired Dawn, a Student Inclusion Programs Program Manager at Google, to change what people think of when they imagine the path it takes to work in tech and at Google. Encouraged by her mentor Shiv, a VP of Engineering, Dawn set out to “redefine the face of STEM by mentoring and encouraging more young girls to engage with robotics.” One of the initiatives Dawn's team works on is called Girl Powered. “It offers an environment where girls can explore robotics at their own pace, providing tools to help them succeed and supplying resources and activities that enable them to build their confidence on and off the robotics competition field,” she explains. And it’s been a huge success: more than 400,000 girls have participated in 400+ workshops worldwide! Find your path to #LifeAtGoogle today → https://goo.gle/3uK8enX

This year Google celebrated its 25th anniversary, and through all that time, people have been searching - searching for their heroes, their inspiration, the moments we’ll never forget and the breakthroughs that have changed everything. For our annual #YearInSearch campaign, we’re shining a light on the most searched moments and individuals of the last 25 years. I can’t wait to see what the next 25 bring! It was a herculean effort to bring this all together, so thank you to Jeffrey Whipps, Jonathan Johnsongriffin, KK Walker, and so many more.

The months after graduation weren’t easy for Googler Maia. “For me, the ‘post-college blues’ was a mindset shift in which I would no longer be living within walking distance of all my friends, thinking of my life in a semester time frame, participating in clubs and other traditional college norms,” she explains. After finding her way to Google through the BOLD Internship Program, Maia found a #LifeAtGoogle community through programs like The Collective and Navigate, which introduced her to other Black Googlers from around the world. “These identity-focused programs eased my transition into the company and also showcased how important diversity and equity is at Google,” she says. Now an Account Manager Associate, Maia feels “a new sense of freedom and autonomy post-graduation and throughout [her] early career. While having deep care and joy about [her] life before graduation, [she is] now able to more intentionally create space for [her] future outside of an academic institution.” Find your next step at Google today → https://goo.gle/3uK8enX

Meet Shinez Chalabi: a Dubai-based Googler on our Ads team. “I work with founders, venture capital firms, startups, investors, and accelerators across 16 Middle Eastern and African countries, including my home country of Algeria,” Shinez explained. “A big part of my role is helping to support clients on their digital growth journey using Google products such as Search and YouTube.” For Shinez, her journey to Google was far from straightforward. As a result, she’s sharing her path to Google, along with her tips and advice!

    • Lessons from Shinez's path to Google
    • Make a plan: “I always aspired to work for a company that benefits society, and Google was my top choice. To get here, I started by identifying the skills and experiences I hoped to develop rather than aiming for a specific role or title. This approach made it much easier for me to chart the educational and professional path that eventually led me to Google.”
    • Prepare: “Applying to Google starts with a strong resume or CV. A stellar CV is concise, structured, and highlights clear results and achievements. Next, be sure you understand the types of interviews you’ll encounter, and prepare for them in depth. This preparation should involve learning about Google’s products. And finally, practice, practice, practice. For me, I prepared by doing mock interviews and learning about Google’s products and the industry I was interviewing for. Initially, I felt apprehensive, but as I completed the interview preparation, I could connect the dots and speak to my experiences.”
    • Believe!: “Looking back, my mindset was one of the most important factors in getting my offer from Google. Have confidence in yourself, in your skills, and in your unique story. What you are bringing is valuable, so make it shine!”

Today, we launched Gemini – Google’s largest and most capable AI model. It was built from the ground up to be multimodal, which means it can generalize and seamlessly understand, operate across, and combine different types of information including text, code, audio, image and video. Built with responsibility and safety at the core, Gemini has the most comprehensive safety evaluations of any Google AI model to date, including for bias and toxicity. We’ve conducted new research into potential risk areas, applied Google Research’s best-in-class adversarial testing techniques to help identify critical safety issues in advance of Gemini’s deployment, and are working with a diverse group of external experts and partners to stress-test our models across a range of issues. In this new era, Gemini will help people be more creative, learn more, and advance science itself. This is a major milestone. Congrats to all the teams that made today happen.
