Who would've thought that my next big idea was waiting for me on the dance floor?
So here's what happened–
A while ago, I was busy crafting the brand identity for Tara Urja, an exciting renewable energy company, and the clock was ticking…
I had three days to visualize the entire brand identity from icons, fonts, color scheme, to branding strategy and design elements.
Seems easy for a Creative Director right?
Not when my client drops this bombshell–
“None of the usual stuff allowed, no cliches and something that's never been done before!”
Suddenly, I could feel the pressure building.
Every design felt like a tried re-run.
Staring at a blank screen can be as intimidating as a pending deadline, especially when your creative flow has weirdly disappeared.
I knew I had only 3 days to create stunning visuals that would make Tara Urja shine brighter than the sun itself.
What did I do to ease the pressure?
I cranked up my favourite music, shimmy & shaked, and danced like nobody's watching!💃
And it made me realize that sometimes, all it takes is a little boogie to shake those creative cobwebs loose.
Movement (even silly dancing) gets your blood and creative juices flowing like never before.
After my impromptu dance session, something clicked.
Ideas started bubbling up, creative juices were flowing, and finally I created a set of icons and visuals that were as fresh and exciting as Tara Urja's vision.
We delivered the project on time, the client was thrilled, and I learnt a valuable lesson:
The most unconventional approaches lead to the biggest “Eureka!” moments.
When your creative juice runs dry, never ever force it.
Step away, recharge, and do something that makes you feel excited, happy, or relaxed.
You never know, your next big idea might just be waiting for you on the dance floor all along!
