About us

At LaBella Associates, our job is to create – structures, plans, ideas, results. As a nationally recognized Design Professional Corporation, that’s a given, right? But here’s what really drives us: creating partnership between our team and our clients. So much so that we become one team, unified in the unrelenting pursuit of exceptional on each and every project. Reliability. Accountability. Collaboration. Respect. Not skills we went to school for, but innate in LaBella team members. The pursuit of partnership is embedded in our culture—has been since our inception in 1978. And it affects client outcomes in profound ways. It means we’re built to expertly execute projects from start to finish. That we have the talent and resources to take on any challenge. That projects are completed on time, on budget, and beyond expectations. And that we win awards – not just for our talent, but also for our ethics, employee culture, and growth. Today, our wheelhouse is broad, with four key service offerings: Buildings, Energy, Infrastructure, and Environmental. Our staff of over 1,000 team members is spread across more than 30 office locations. We’re headquartered in Rochester, NY—but our impact is seen, felt, and experienced around the world.

Students from State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry ventured off campus last week as part of their Historic Preservation and Planning class where LaBella’s Scott Perry, AIA and Bradley Rush hosted a tour for them at the future home of the STEAM High School in the City of Syracuse, NY. Formerly known as the Central Tech High School, the school opened in 1903, closed in 1975, and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981. The project brings back to life one of the most iconic structures in downtown Syracuse that will create an educational environment that supports a cutting-edge STEAM institution. On the tour, the students viewed different areas of the former Syracuse City School District High School which contains some of the original woodwork and ornate interior design details not found in any other school building in the region. Our team was excited to share the design and construction process of this exciting project with the SUNY ESF students. LaBella provided design and architectural services for The Pass, a mixed-use development being developed by Foundry Commercial and Third & Urban in the NoDa area of Charlotte, North Carolina. The Pass positions itself between the historical arts district of NoDa and the up-and-coming Sugar Creek community, providing a place for growth and personality. The Pass will include 260,000+ square feet of creative office and retail space, along with upscale multi-family units. The project is located directly on the light rail at Sugar Creek Station. The adaptive reuse nature of the project places an emphasis on preserving the character and architectural features of the original buildings, while thoughtfully modernizing the site. Pass41, pictured below, is the first phase of The Pass and incorporates creative office and retail uses throughout. Pass41 is envisioned as the epicenter of the project, with a heavy concentration on engaging the community through placemaking, plentiful green space, and public art displays. Subsequent phases of the project are projected to be completed in 2025. Earlier today, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the final maximum contaminant levels for six PFAS in drinking water. In addition to today’s new regulations, the EPA is making unprecedented funding available through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to help states and territories implement PFAS testing and treatment at public water systems and help owners of private wells address PFAS contamination. Today, millions of people across North America will get the chance to experience a very special natural event when a total solar eclipse will be visible from parts of Mexico, the United States, and Canada. At LaBella, we are very excited about this rare event, as a handful of our offices happen to be located along the “path of totality,” which measures more than 100 miles wide and crosses 15 U.S. states. Those within the path will see the sun’s corona, or outer atmosphere, which is usually obscured by the bright face of the sun. LaBella has been preparing for the eclipse in a variety of ways! The Sunshine Committee assembled goodie bags for employees that included a pair of LaBella-branded solar glasses and space-themed candy to ensure our employees enjoy the eclipse safely. Our Buffalo office proudly sponsored Eclipse Readiness Day Programming at Explore & More Children’s Museum. Volunteers from LaBella participated in eclipse-themed hands-on activities and storytimes in the Tinkering Tank on the first Saturday of every month since January leading up to the total solar eclipse happening today. We had so much fun working with our partners at Explore & More - The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children's Museum and helping young visitors of the museum gear up for the big event and become familiar with what an eclipse is and how to view it safely. We hope that many of you can safely enjoy the total solar eclipse today – a once-in-a-lifetime experience! ☀️ 🌑 Learn more about how LaBella prepped for the total solar eclipse on our website: https://lnkd.in/eF4WkA7t #solareclipse2024 #totality
