Badminton is the world’s fastest racquet sport where players compete to hit a shuttlecock back and forth over a high net. Team GB have won three badminton medals in Olympic competition; bronze in Sydney 2000, silver in Athens 2004 and lastly a bronze in the men’s double in Rio 2016 by Chris Langridge and Marcus Ellis.
Badminton GB is made up of Badminton England, Badminton Scotland, Ulster branch Badminton and Badminton Wales. These nations come together and compete as Great Britain at Olympic and Paralympic Games, European Game and Youth Olympic Games.
It is unique to other net sports in that it uses a shuttlecock instead of a ball.
