The Coaching Team at UK Sport advocates coaching and the development of coaches across the high-performance community. We are committed to the continued support of coaches and coach developers through bespoke learning and development opportunities that help grow the breadth, depth and diversification of the coach and coach developer workforce.
Learning and development opportunities for coaches in high-performance include expert 1-to-1 coach developer support and the connecting of coaches and coach developers with each other via networks (e.g. forums and communities of practice).
The development needs of coaches/coach developers will be established through collaboration between the Coaching Team at UK Sport and the sport. This will determine the best approach to support each individual/team.
Other UK Sport support can be accessed by coaches and coach developers, contact our team for more information.
New for 2022
UK Sport will launch two new programmes in 2022 that coaches can access; Leading to Perform AND Coaching in High-Performance Sport (CiHPS) - title TBC. Coaches may be able to access either programme, depending which best suits their needs. From a coaching perspective:
- Leading to Perform - aimed at podium coaches transitioning into head coach roles or who have made the transition recently. This programme builds on previous initiatives 'Elite Programme' and 'Coach Leader'. It will launch September 2022.
- Coaching in High-Performance Sport (CiHPS) - aimed at coaches who have recently progressed to coaching within a Podium environment or are cross-coaching between Academy and Podium spaces. This programme builds on previous initiatives 'ECAP' and 'HiCAP'. It will launch in April 2023.
A number of Coach Developers are being supported by our Supporting Coaching in High-Performance Sport (SCiHPS) programme.
Alignment with strategic partners
Coaches and coach developers working at national level with junior athletes and in the talent and performance stage of the athlete pathway can also access support offered by our strategic partner UK Coaching.
