Our Board

The Board of non-executive Directors is chaired by Atholl Duncan and has four committees (Finance, Audit and Risk; Governance; HR and Remuneration; and Nominations). The Board is supported by the Executive Management team.

Atholl Duncan - Chair

Atholl is a business leader with a wide range of experience as a non-executive director in sport. He was the chairman of the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) – the governing and regulatory body for the UK’s second largest spectator sport – and still serves on the BHA’s board. He was a non-executive director of sportscotland from 2001 to 2009; a director of the Scottish Sports Council Trust – which runs three national sports centres – for a decade; and one of the founding trustees of the Hibernian FC Community Foundation.

He is the chair of the Scottish Salmon Organisation and a trustee of the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Atholl is passionate about getting more people, more active, more often to address the nation’s problems with health and inactivity. He is inspired by the great work of our elite coaches winning on the world stage, as well as the achievements of the many thousands of our coaches who change people’s lives at a community level. He was a schoolboy rowing international, a club rugby player and still competes in 10Ks, triathlons and half ironmans.

In his professional career, Atholl worked for the BBC for 20 years and was head of news and current affairs for BBC Scotland from 2007 to 2011, leading 270 journalists working on TV, radio and online. He was also executive director of ICAS – the professional and membership body for 21,000 chartered accountants – many of whom are chairs, CEOs and CFOs, leading the best known companies across the UK and in 100 countries around the world. Atholl is an INSEAD qualified executive coach and is the owner of The Edge Coaching and Consultancy Ltd.

Michelle Bramley

Michelle Bramley is an executive and leadership development coach, non-executive director, board advisor, and international lawyer working across commercial and not-for-profit sectors.

Drawing on her 30 years' experience in a variety of legal and senior management roles at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, most recently as Global Head of Knowledge, Michelle has significant operational management experience including in organisational, cultural, and digital transformation and innovation delivery. Her legal expertise includes international dispute resolution, risk and regulatory compliance, business and human rights, and modern slavery.

Michelle is also a member of the Accounting, Finance and Legal Route Panel for The Institute for Apprenticeships, an advisory board member of ForestSEA, a not-for-profit organisation developing reforestation initiatives in South East Asia, and a member of Thomson Reuters' Transforming Women's Leadership in the Law Advisory Board.

Michelle is the UK Coaching Senior Independent Director and the Board Welfare and Safeguarding Lead.

Katie Bunbury

Katie is a digital product strategy and delivery expert. She started her career in corporate finance, before spending almost 20 years working as a senior product leader in a range of tech enabled, high growth businesses including Amazon, WorldFirst (sold to Ant Financial) and most recently BeautyPie.  

She has significant experience in using technology to scale businesses, tech transformation and product strategy, whilst always putting the customer at the heart of her work.  

Katie is currently a Board Advisor for a private company where her experience helps navigate high growth by supporting and enabling management teams. Passionate about empowering and supporting individuals she also mentors a number of senior executives working in scaling businesses and pro bono through One Million Mentors.

Katie is a keen spectator of sport at a grass-roots level and has witnessed in her children, the impact and power of sport and great coaching.

Ed Hepworth

Ed has been the Chief Financial Officer of Six Nations Rugby since 2020 and has nearly 30 years' experience of senior finance roles across a range of industries. He previously worked at the NBA (National Basketball Association) in New York and London for eight years, and has experience with major brands including Sainsbury’s, Reuters, PwC and British Airways.

Ed is currently the Chair of Active Communities Network, a Sport for Development charity who support many disadvantaged communities across the UK. He’s a passionate believer in the power of sport to transform people’s lives and sees sport as a pathway to education, training and employment.

Ed is a qualified football and rugby coach at youth level, having been inspired to get involved in grassroots sports with his children.

Alaina MacGregor

Alaina turned to charity work after 16 successful years working in marketing. Once in the charity sector, she set up and managed a £1.3million community project in Leamington Spa - noted by the National Lottery as one of the most successful projects in its field.

Alaina won a National Archives award for the volunteer components of a heritage project in 2007. In 2010, she took up a volunteer advisory role with British Blind Sport and became CEO in 2011. Under her guidance, British Blind Sport has grown year on year - initially supporting 350 people per annum to reaching over 10,000 individuals and organisations each year.

She was a dance and physical activity coach at a school for children with special needs. In her 20s, she became an aerobics teacher and coached in a local college. In her current role at British Blind Sport, she instigated the first of the national disability sports organisations to create sport and impairment specific coaching resources.

Alaina is the UK Coaching Board EEDI champion.

Rosie Ranganathan

Rosie began her HR career working in music for EMI Records and then BMG, where she was part of the team who worked on the merger with Sony Music. She then moved into TV and worked at Channel 5 and Channel 4, where she ran the HR Operations team for almost six years. During her time in the media sector, Rosie worked on a number of large-scale organisational design and change projects, including the purchase of EMAP TV, the outsourcing of Transmission and the lucrative acquisition of the UKTV advertising sales team.

Moving into sport in 2013, Rosie joined Wasps RFC and was part of the team that transitioned them to their new home in Coventry. She joined the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2014 as people director, and created a HR function that partnered closely with the business to develop, attract and retain the best; culminating in the organisation winning both the men's and women's cricket world cups. As part of the Senior Management team, Rosie has championed an inclusive culture that brings out the best in everyone, including continuous performance management and personal development. Passionate about inclusion and diversity, Rosie has championed an inclusive culture and has led on the ECB’s inclusion and diversity strategy. 

She is also a qualified executive coach and mentor and is currently studying for a master's degree in leadership (specialising in sports leadership and high-performance).

Colin Rattigan

Colin began his career with Shell with various periods in the business strategy and retail marketing departments. After leaving Shell, he moved from the energy sector taking on a variety of senior management roles in advertising, consumer marketing and technology consulting roles in Asia and Europe. 

Colin is a former athlete and Olympic bobsledder, representing Great Britain at the 1988 and 1992 Winter Games. He has coached at elite and grassroots levels across three sports. He believes in the strong connectivity that sport can changes lives and coaching is the catalyst and enabler of that goal in society.

Dr Adi Fawcett

Adi has worked in the sports sector for the last 25 years, devising and implementing programmes at the participation and performance level across a range of sports in both the UK and Australia.  She is currently working as Head of Delivery at 3 Pillars Project delivering sports-based mentoring programmes for young men in the criminal justice system.

Adi’s career in sport started as a British Rowing Sport Development Officer delivering coach education and participation programmes.  She then successfully made the move into coaching starting at junior level and then moving into the role of Talent Development Coach for British Rowing. Following this success, Adi moved to Sydney, AUS to work for Rowing Australia.

Adi returned to the UK as Talent Manager for Volleyball England constructing and implementing a talent identification programme delivering high-performing operations, supporting athletes and coaches on the talent pathways and securing funding.  Most recently Adi has been working in senior roles at Special Olympics GB and Cerebral Palsy Sport to advocate and lobby for all disabled people to be physically active, whether as a participant or as a performer.  She is currently an Executive member of the World Ability Sport International Frame Running Committee, developing the sport of Frame Running globally to secure inclusion at the LA28 Paralympic Games.  

In 2023, Adi was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Letters Degree by the University of Hull in recognition of her contribution to sport and commitment to widening diversity in sport. 

Karim Harbott

Karim is a leadership, innovation and business agility consultant, author, non-executive director, and international keynote speaker. He has 20+ years' experience helping organisations with agile and digital transformations working on some of the most complex anywhere in the world.

Working across the private and public sector, his work involves advising on innovation and product development, strategy, leadership development, and cultural change. He has led enterprise transformations of over 1,000 people at many major companies including Lloyds Banking Group, Barclays UK, and global consulting firm McKinsey & Co.

He is a serial entrepreneur and founding partner of Agile Centre, a global training and consulting firm, and the Business Agility Academy, the leading international business agility certification body. He also served as a non-executive director at the Scrum Alliance, the first and largest agile education body in the world.

Karim is a former professional tennis player, holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics, a master's degre in innovation and entrepreneurship, and is a fellow of the British Computer Society (FBCS).
