"I am here because of the courage of Tuskegee Airmen. From a historical lens, their heroism paved the way for Black aviators to gain respect and enabled pathways for many to pursue careers in the aviation industry. From a personal lens, one of my earliest mentors – the late Captain John Mosely, an original Tuskegee Airman – encouraged me to find my space in the skies. In high school I completed flight training and did my first solo flight at the age of 17. Even in his Eighties, Captain Mosely made sure to show up at the airport to see me lift off as Pilot-in-Command. Though he is no longer with us, I have committed to honoring his life and legacy by creating space for others in aviation in the same way he did for me." Jamar Harrison, Global Account Manager

Miami is an important city in connecting our customers to the world - and this week, it helped us connect students to their potential. We partnered with LATAM Airlines and Junior Achievement of Greater Miami to create a job shadow experience for local students who went behind-the-scenes at Miami International Airport, providing insight and first-hand experience to careers in airport operations and the aviation industry. Thank you to all the participants, and we hope you enjoyed the chance to interact with us and learn how partners can work across continents, both on the ground and in the sky ✈️

“As a kid, aviation was not an industry on my radar because I didn’t see people who looked like me when I boarded a plane or watched movies about aviation. However, I have always loved travel and a chance encounter via LinkedIn opened the doors for an opportunity in what was a new industry for me. What is so great about joining Delta is that you have an opportunity to experience amazing people, products, and services as both a customer and an employee. It is so great to complete a work week and then travel to either connect with family and friends or experience dream locations and new places. Each of these experiences has fostered my curiosity, compassion, and tenacity.” – Andrea M. Thomas, MBA Manager, Supplier Diversity/ Vice President, BOLD (Employee BRG)

We hosted the Army Partnership for Your Success (PaYS) Signing Ceremony at the Delta Flight Museum to commemorate an official partner agreement with the U.S. Army PaYS Program – a strategic partnership between the U.S. Army and select corporations, companies and public sector agencies that connects enlisting soldiers and Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) Cadets to interviews and potential full-time employment following their service in the Army. As part of this agreement, we will post full-time positions to the PaYS database that match future job vacancies with the job skills offered by the U.S. Army, U.S. Army National Guard and U.S Army Reserve. “This relationship with Army PaYS is a key part of our commitment to build a robust military talent pipeline to support veterans’ transition to civilian careers.” said Delta Air Lines Chief Operating Officer and Veteran Mike Spanos

It’s a menu as diverse as the people who make them and the customers who enjoy them: Delta flyers can now enjoy House of Brown chardonnay selections from Brown Estate Vineyards- the first Black-owned estate winery in the Napa Valley. Ever since parents Bassett & Marcela Brown purchased property in the hills east of Rutherford in 1980 and began planting vineyards, Brown Estate has sought to embody the now timeworn adage: Representation matters. We are grateful to partner with suppliers like Brown Estate who not only provide us with the best products but also help us offer products that are made by people who reflect the communities we serve. #deltaproud #keepclimbing

“What does representation mean to you?” “EVERYTHING.” Hear from Delta Air Lines Captain, Douglas Taylor, General Manager, Angela Benjamin, and Intern, Shaniya Marshall as they chat with the OBAP - Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals about all things career, representation, and the real work we are doing at Delta to help provide numerous career pathways to build a diverse pipeline of top talent – inclusive of those who may have historically been left behind due to systemic barriers. We are honored to partner with OBAP to elevate Black voices and stories, to amplify the trailblazers who have come before us and continue to strive for a more equitable future. #KeepClimbing #equityisthemotive
