CVMC Woodridge Rehabilitation and Nursing earned Best Nursing Homes status by achieving a rating of “High Performing,” the highest possible rating, for Short-Term Rehabilitation. U.S. News gives the designation of Best Nursing Home only to those homes that satisfy U.S. News’s assessment of the appropriate use of key services and consistent performance in quality measures.
NRHA Top 20 Rural Community Hospital
Central Vermont Medical Center named one of the nation’s Top 20 Rural Community Hospitals by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA). Top 20 Rural Community Hospitals are those achieving success in overall performance based on a composite rating from eight indicators of strength — inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspectives, costs, charges and financial stability.
Green Mountain United Way’s 2018 Community Impact Award
CVMC received Green Mountain United Way’s 2018 Community Impact Award for our role with the Working Bridges program and Vermont’s THRIVE initiative. Both aim to improve the lives of those in our community.
CVEDC Member of the Year
CVMC received 2018's Member of the Year award from the Central Vermont Economic Development Corporation (CVEDC). The honor is presented "in recognition of the significant contribution to the health and well being of our region."
Governor’s Excellence in Worksite Wellness Award

For the fourth year running, The University of Vermont Health Network – Central Vermont Medical Center (CVMC) earned the Governor’s Excellence in Worksite Wellness Award, highlighting efforts to promote employee health. Members of CVMC’s Wellness Committee accepted the award from Gov. Phil Scott and the Vermont Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports at March 23’s Worksite Wellness Conference in Burlington. The award recognizes Vermont employers who have made healthy behaviors a priority.

Central Vermont Medical Center was named a 2016 “Top U.S. Rural & Community Hospital” by iVantage Health Analytics. The award compares hospitals nationally across a continuum of financial, value based and market driven indicators. It includes measurements from “nine pillars” of hospital strength: inpatient share ranking, outpatient share ranking, population risk, cost, charge, quality, outcomes, patient perspectives and financial stability.

Primary Care Practices Recognized for High Child and Teen Immunization Rates
CVMC Pediatric Primary Care - Barre, CVMC Family Medicine - Waterbury, and Green Mountain Family Practice were among 25 primary care practices in Vermont have been recognized by the Vermont Department of Health for high child and/or teen immunization rates in 2017.

Commission on Cancer Accreditation by the American College of Surgeons

The Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons granted Three-Year Accreditation with Commendation to the Cancer Program at Central Vermont Medical Center. The Accreditation Program, a component of the CoC, sets quality-of-care standards for cancer programs and reviews the programs to ensure they conform to those standards. Accreditation by the CoC is given to those facilities that have voluntarily committed to providing the highest level of quality cancer care and that have undergone a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance.
EPA’s Official ENERGY STAR Certification

Central Vermont Medical Center earned the EPA’s official ENERGY STAR certification, which means our facility performs in the top 25 percent of all hospitals nationwide for energy efficiency.
Accredited by the Joint Commission for a Three Year Accreditation Cycle
Central Vermont Hospital and the Central Vermont Medical Group Practices were accredited by the Joint Commission in January 2019 for a three year accreditation cycle. Joint Commission Accreditation is the equivalent of the Good Housekeeping “Seal of Approval” for medical centers. The Joint Commission evaluates the quality and safety of care provided by health care organizations. Participating in the Joint Commission accreditations process is one measure of how CVMC continuously strives to improve the safety and quality of care provided to its patients.

The International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) Care Award
In 2015, CVMC's Center for Breastfeeding received the IBCLC Care Award from the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) and the International Consultant Association (ILCA). This awar is part of a global recognition program for excellence demonstrated in staffing International Board Certified Lactation Consultants as part of the maternal–child health care team and for conducting breastfeeding activities, promotion, protection and support of breastfeeding.
