The name Bernie Mev is known for being the master of woven footwear. Bernie Mev started out in the 1960s with his original factory located in the Bronx. At that time he was making shoes for all the big department stores and major retailers.
In 2000, Bernie met his match, a man named Itamar Carmi who was as fresh and energetic as Bernie. Itamar owned Medici Shoe Stores, a privately owned retail business with five locations in the New York area that specialized in imported Italian labels. When Bernie and Itamar came together they soon produced shoes in accordance with their shared high standards of excellence. Itamar quickly brought a vision of his to life; it was a groundbreaking technology in the form of an expandable, handwoven memory foam footbed. It included innovative color combinations and patterns in a wide array of shoe styles from high wedges to ballerina flats.
Bernie Mev footwear is taking the shoe industry by storm with its unique designs and extremely comfortable shoes. Itamar and his wife personally choose all of the fabrics and design all of the patterns. The rest of the recipe includes a hands-on management style, a great office staff, and a crackerjack team of sales associates.
“We have designed a whole new line for our 2014 collection,” said Rachel Carmi. “It's definitely Bernie Mev at its best.” Every woman needs a pair of Mevs in her closet!
