Former U.S. First Lady Rosalynn Carter dies at 96

On November 19, The Carter Center announced, former First Lady of the United States Rosalynn Carter, wife of former President Jimmy Carter, died. According to the Center, "[s]he died peacefully, with family by her side" in Plains, Georgia, at home. She was 96 years old.

NASA's OSIRIS-REx arrives in Houston, US after returning asteroid samples to Earth

On September 25, a capsule from NASA's Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification and Security – Regolith Explorer spacecraft containing samples from the asteroid Bennu arrived in the US city of Houston, Texas. The capsule was en route to the Johnson Space Center after landing in the Utah Test and Training Range the day before. This was NASA's first asteroid sample return.
