The report shows an increase of 18,919 registrants from last year. There are now 15,400 more nurses, 1,225 more midwives and 2,444 more nursing associates registered to work in England, thanks to our domestic and international recruitment efforts.

Today released its annual data report, the number of nurses working in health and social care is at the highest level on record with 561,400 registered nurses, 34,342 midwives and 9,290 nursing associates registered to work in England.

Iโ€™m pleased to announce that Dr Edile Murdoch has been appointed as the chair of a new national Maternity and Neonatal Outcomes Group. Dr Bill Kirkup will act as a special adviser. Both have a wealth of experience in delivering improvements in maternity and neonatal care.

In response to the recommendations in the Reading the Signals report, we are establishing a new national maternity and neonatal taskforce to ensure digital tools and data are used more effectively to continuously track and measure outcomes for mothers and babies. #teamCNO
