  • I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say "become fertile." Do you mean when you ovulate? Well regardless, sperm can live 3-5 days, so you are fertile 3-5 days before you ovulate. Also, your egg can live 12-24 hours, so you are also fertile for up to 24 hours after ovulation.
  • Your ovulation day is 1 day only. Your fertile window is the 3 days before ovulation day, ovulation day itself and 1 day after ovulation day so = 5 days you are "fertile" in a cycle.

You are fertile the 3 days before O day because sperm can live on average 2-3 days and up to abuot 5 days max. You are obviously fertile on your O day. And then you're fertile 1 day after your O day because the egg lives 12-24 hours after O.

So if you O on the 19th, your fertile window is:

    16th, 17th, 18th (3 days before O day),
    19th (O day) and the,
20th (up to 1 day after O day) so 5 total days in your cycle.

    HTH and GL!

  • OKay cause according to my Ovulation test kit I am just peak fertile today unlike the other days where I am High Peak Ovulation was yesterday which means....today is my last day! in my fertile window.

  • When you get a peak reading it means you should ovulate within 12-48 hours but sometimes up to 5 days later.if you aren't temping to confirm O I would suggest dtd every other day until you get a positive opk (or peak) & then dtd 3 days in a row skip a day & one more in case you o'd later..but what Mari said is true about the fertile window. .good luck
  • Thanks yeah I have figured it out completed with temping and such that my fertile window is from the 15th-19th I ovulate today. and my cycle is only 22 days long. So i can test in 3 days :D but yeah that is what i've figured out i've been temping and my temp rised from 96.2 on Monday to 97.2 on Tuesday so i figured i'd be ovulating today!

  • can you post your chart? if your period is due is 3 days there is no way you can be pregnant if you just O'd today or yesterday, the egg needs at least 6 days to travel down the fallopian tube & then takes several more days after to implant & for hcg to rise. You need a LP of at least 10 days, IF you are temping & only have a 3 day LP you need to see a doctor to find out what the problem is. With a 22 day cycle you should O between cd6 & 12 & still have a normal LP.. BTW, the temp rise is AFTER ovulation

  • oh no i know its not positive..lol...I'm due for my Period March 3rd. I have a 22 day cycle. I was 96.2 degrees on Monday and I was 97.2 degrees on Tuesday. Would that be an indicator of ovulation? Sorry I'm just trying to figure things out lol....

  • I agree with PP's...what was your temp today? if it was still higher it's likely your ovulation day could of been monday putting you at 2dpo already...I dont know if you use FF but even if you only have your temps written down on paper or something ,you can just put them into ff (fertility friend) making it easier for us to read your chart and try to help you out more :)

Oh, OK, I misunderstood & thought you were wanting to test in 3 days! LOL well, if you O'd yesterday that would give you a good LP of 14 days.. I agree with PP that if you want to put your temps into Fertility Friend we can look at the chart & try to give advice..FF will actually mark your ovulation day.. You are looking for a temp rise of at least .2 degrees over the last 6 temps & 2 more elevated temps to confirm O..its hard to tell you if you O'd just by you giving us a few temps..I need to see it on a chart,I'm a visual person..LOL
