How your toddler's growing
At this age, your toddler is still prone to a fair amount of pushing, shoving, yelling and tantrums. Although it can be frustrating, try to remember that he isn't trying to be difficult. Tantrums may be his way of showing you that he's so frustrated or upset he can't think straight any more.Remind your little one that talking gets better results, and praise him when he tries to communicate his feelings calmly. In the meantime, make sure you're communicating well with him. Explain why rules are necessary.
As well as telling him that he can't run out into the street without holding a grown-up's hand, talk about why it's not safe, so he understands the reason for your warning.

If my son is very cross and doesn't want to be cuddled, I sit nearby to show him I am there. When he will let me touch him, I rub his back. I try not to talk about whatever set off the tantrum until he has completely calmed down.
