Top baby boys’ names of 2022

It’s time to reveal the top baby boys’ names of 2022! There’s no change at the top this year but there’s still plenty of drama in the chart. The top 100 has been stormed by new entries and rocked by many high climbers and big falls. Want the lowdown on Australian baby boys’ names in 2022? Australia’s most popular baby names in 2022

There’s no change at the top as Oliver and Noah hold on tight to first and second positions. Leo and Charlie climbed up four places each to take the third and fourth spots. Elsewhere in the top 10, Luca held steady to fifth position and Elijah edged its way into the top 10, climbing three places to take 10th position. Archie jumped seven places but just missed out on the coveted top 10 and sits at 11 this year.

The new entries have taken over this year! A whopping 19 newbies have descended on the top 100 boys’ names list for 2022. The highest of these new entries was Teddy, bursting in at number 56. Teddy was closely followed by names taking over the 60-something spots with Elliot at number 60, Reuben at 64 and Darcy at 69. Other newcomers coming in between 70 and 90 were Remy, Zachary, Edward, Oakley, Luke, Julian, Atlas and Nicholas. A newcomer takeover at the bottom of the chart saw Caleb swoop in at number 90, Braxton at number 93, Anthony at number 94, Phoenix at number 97, Raphael at number 98, Zayn at number 99 and Lenny at 100!

Five notable climbers conquered the chart this year. The biggest jump was made by River going up an impressive 36 places to number 47. Our other names rocketing up were Harry, which climbed 23 places to number 19 while Arthur soared 26 places to 23, Hamish moved up 24 places to 44 and Alfie surged 26 places to 73.

Boys’ names falling in popularity in Australia

BabyCenter Australia sent five names cascading down the charts this year. Samuel plummeted 42 places to number 80, a surprise twist after Samuel had been edging up the charts in 2020 and 2021. What has caused the change of heart on Samuel? The other fallers were James which crashed 21 places to 45, Lincoln dipped 25 to 48, Sebastian fell 28 to 59 and Riley slipped 29 to 65.
