CARBON REMOVAL

FOR A LIVABLE PLANET

Climate change is the biggest challenge of our generation and thus has to be solved urgently. We are inspired by the beauty of this planet. It is the only one we have.

Our vision is to sequester 1 GT of CO2 while regenerating tropical soils in order to create a livable planet with nutritious food and healthy ecosystems for future generations.

We remove CARBON with natural ROCK POWDER

Permanent

Carbon will be locked away for 1000+ years

Scalable

No additional infrastructure and high-tech machinery necessary

Safe

No negative side effects to the environment

carbon removal rock weathering

Enhanced rock weathering

Throughout the earth’s history, most of our atmospheric carbon dioxide has been removed through the weathering of silicate rocks. Silicate rock reacts with water and CO2 and as a result, dissolved bicarbonates are produced. Eventually, they wash away through rivers into the oceans where they form carbon-rich sediments.

We at InPlanet accelerate this natural carbon removal process by distributing rock powder on agricultural land in the tropics because there its weathering potential is the highest. Besides its carbon removal ability, enhanced weathering regenerates tropical soils and fertilizes crops. This also allows farmers to reduce the input of limestone, synthetic fertilisers and pesticides. Therefore our projects also contribute to more sustainable farming.

We at Inplanet accelerate this natural carbon removal process by distributing rock powder on agricultural land in the tropics, where its weathering potential is the highest. Besides removing carbon, enhanced weathering regenerates tropical soils, fertilises crops and allows the farmers to reduce the input of limestone, synthetic fertilisers and pesticides.

How it works

Farmers

We enable farmers in the tropics to use natural rock powders from local mines instead of limestone, synthetic fertilizers and pesticides.

Companies

We sell Carbon Removal Credits for every tonne of carbon sequestered and in that way can help companies to achieve their Net-Zero commitments.

Co-Benefits

Soils are regenerated as a result of the nutrient addition from the fresh rock minerals. Thereby we support the restoration of ecosystems and the production of healthy fruits and vegetables.

Additionality

The access to Carbon Finance is crucial, because the farmers could not afford to replace synthetic chemicals with natural rock powders by themselves.
