This version of mieliepap is so delicious it can almost be served as dessert for breakfast!
Ingredients
- 1 tin coconut milk
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon fine ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3 green cardamom pods
- pinch of salt
- 1 cup maize meal
- flaked almonds (toasted), for serving
Method
- In your potjie on the fire, add the coconut milk, water, and all the spices and mix this well.
- Now add the maize meal and stir until it becomes thick and cooked. This will take about 20 minutes, remember to stir often and add a bit of water if you think it’s getting to dry or stiff.
- Once done, toast the flaked almonds in a pan and serve on top of your golden mieliepap
