First of all, you guys are some brave mother fuckers!! I write this from the airport on my way home from my solo trip.

First the positives: I stayed in cool hostels and chatted with lots of nice friendly travelers. I enjoyed the country I went to and their hospitality. However, the entire trip I felt this overwhelming sense of anxiety about being alone in a foreign country that no amount of fellow travelers or friendly locals could fill. I ended up deciding to cut my trip short because my mental health was rapidly declining the longer I was away from my support system. This is actually my second time attempting a solo trip, and the other time turned out the same way.

I have traveled outside of the country multiple times before but always with friends or family and had a blast. It's the solo travel that I have a hard time with. I've always struggled with anxiety and solo travel really triggered it.

I guess I write this to say that solo travel isn't for everyone and that's probably okay. I would love to hear from some other people who have had a similar experience.
