🎙️ Replace a meeting with an asynchronous update. Share your update as an audio or video clip so teammates can catch up on their own time (and in their time zone).

🤔 Lead by example and think twice before sending messages to people who are taking time off. Try scheduling a Slack message to send on the day everyone's back so you won't forget and they won't be bothered.

🙅‍♀️ Be disciplined and resist the temptation to check your work messages. Set Slack to Do Not Disturb and pause notifications when you're off the clock to avoid getting pulled back in when you're supposed to be out.

🚨 Be clear about when and how people can contact you in true emergencies. Add a phone number to your Slack profile for urgent matters, but let teammates know what warrants a phone call vs. what can wait.

👯‍♀️ Appoint a vacation replacement to answer questions while you're out. You can tag them in your status or a pinned message so any inbound inquiries find their way to the right eyes and ears.

📣 Make sure everyone on your team knows you’ll be away in advance. Set your Slack status to "🔜 PTO Soon" and indicate the dates you'll be gone so your teammates have a heads-up before you head out.
