(3/4) As a result of our evaluation, VE exceeded their targets in the DIB contract and maxed out the DIB payment of $4.28M. We project that the program will generate lifetime impacts of over $21M for program participants.

(2/4) Between 2017-2021, IDinsight evaluated Village Enterprise’s (VE) poverty graduation program in Kenya and Uganda. We measured the causal impact of the program on household consumption and assets which informed the outcome payment of the DIB.

(3/4) What did we find? Refugees in Kiryandongo used the cash transfer to improve their economic and psychological well-being. By the endline survey treatment households owned more assets, consumed more goods and services, and earned more business income.

(2/4) IDinsight’s evaluation combined an RCT of 1,090 refugee households and a longitudinal qualitative study of 21 households. GiveDirectly and IDinsight used a public lottery system to ensure the transparent distribution of cash.

(3/3) We found that with adequate mobile connectivity and updates, BHWs see themselves using the chatbot. When used more broadly the KIRA chatbot stands to serve as an additional tool for COVID-19 vaccine information & to increase coverage in rural areas.

(2/3) To ensure our activities met the DOH’s social impact needs, we worked closely with them to design the assessment. The IDinsight team conducted field visits with 58 barangay health workers (BHW) from 12 communities, speaking 3 local languages!
