Welcome to the community bulletin board, which is a page used for announcements from WikiProjects and other groups. Included here are coordinated efforts, events, projects, and other general announcements.

Monthly contest, WikiProject Military history. The contest department of the Military history WikiProject aims to motivate increased quality in military history articles by offering a form of friendly competition for project members making improvements to them. The primary contest available is a simple rolling competition that awards points for improving articles. The contest runs from the first to last day of each month.
Guild of Copy Editors' editing blitz. The December 2022 editing blitz is a one-week long effort of the Guild of Copy Editors to reduce the backlog. This month's themes are: requests from September and October 2022, and articles in the February 2022 backlog. It begins 11 December 2022, 00:00 (UTC), and ends 17 December 2022, 23:59 (UTC).
Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red 2022 Events: October – Alphabet Run: G & H women's names (new); Women+Climate (year-long initiative); #1day1woman (continuing).
The 100,000 Challenge. The quest to bring about 100,000 article improvements and creations globally through a series of 50,000/10,000/1000 Challenges for different regions and countries. This is a loose challenge, a list will not be maintained here, but the components will function independently on each of the subpages. Will be updated every week or two.
- The 50,000 Destubbing Challenge is a long term challenge to destub 50,000 articles on English Wikipedia for every country and topic. It may take decades to accomplish, it may take ten years, it all depends on how many people actively contribute.

Recruiting new members for the Degrassi taskforce! For over 18 months I've been going around creating, expanding, and improving articles about the Degrassi teen drama franchise, which were mostly really poor and obviously last edited 10 years ago as well as improving coverage of the original series and I am interested in reviving this task force to encourage collaborative effort and help get Degrassi articles to featured status! A group of editors has created a lichen task force under the banner of Wikipedia:WikiProject Fungi. Right now the group is busily tagging appropriate articles, converting existing articles to Wikipedia's automatic taxobox system, and creating an outline of lichens to direct future article development. Recent changes

An A/B test has begun at 15 Wikipedias for DiscussionTools on mobile. Half of the editors on the mobile web site will have access to the Reply tool and other features. [1]
The character = cannot be used in new usernames, to make usernames work better with templates. Existing usernames are not affected. [2]

Changes later this week

The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 13 December. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 14 December. It will be on all wikis from 15 December (calendar).
The HTML markup used by DiscussionTools to show discussion metadata below section headings will be inserted after these headings, not inside of them. This change improves the accessibility of discussion pages for screen reader software. [3]

The fourth edition of the Coolest Tool Award will happen online on Friday 16 December 2022 at 17:00 UTC! The event will be live-streamed on YouTube in the MediaWiki channel and added to Commons afterwards.
