Fundamentally network usage fees are a ploy by the largest ISPs to extract monopolistic rents, kill competition, and further entrench their monopolistic power. We urge the EU to reject the adoption of network usage fees in 2023.

The Federal Circuit accepted EFF’s amicus brief in the Nimitz Technologies patent case, and denied Nimitz’s petition to stop a judge’s investigation into patent trolls that have sued more than 60 companies.

About $28b has been channeled from to local police for drones, ShotSpotter, cell-site simulators, automated license plate readers, and similar surveillance tools that collect data on people who, for the most part, are not of any criminal interest. eff.org/issues/street-.

Should the Rules Committee revisit the issue, the community must come together to stop this dangerous use of technology. Huge thanks are due to the coalition of residents and groups who pushed back, and who we know will be ready if we must fight again.
