I understand frustration. My issue is the underlying race and gender politics of their complaints. Every day, Black women are ignored, disrespected, arrested, and denied proper treatment in ways that lead to avoidable illness and premature death.

This TikTok video of the nurses demonstrates why hospitals, and particularly labor and delivery sections, are incredibly dangerous spaces for Black people. For Black child bearing people, these spaces frequently blame, shame, criminalize, and kill. They do not see our humanity.
