Dr. Scales has worked in various areas of nursing, from public health to oncology, and multiple settings, from the community to hospital, prior to pursuing an advanced degree. While she enjoyed providing holistic medical care, her passion lies in the patient story and experience, the impact on their mental health and well-being, and family-centered care.
Dr. Scales first pursued a Doctorate as a Family Nurse Practitioner and worked as a geriatrician, providing on-site primary care at senior living facilities. Many of her patients suffered from complex medical conditions, neurocognitive disorders, and comorbid mood and anxiety disorders. To improve her knowledge base and management of medications, Dr. Scales pursued dual certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and focused her training in child and adolescent mental health.
While completing this specialized training, Dr. Scales started an integrative outpatient medication management program at a collaborating mental health agency. Dr. Scales is most passionate about serving the community and meeting the mental health needs of patients across the lifespan as well as their families.
Dr. Scales’ care is integrative and collaborative with your outpatient and community providers and PHP team. Dr. Scales takes a holistic approach to patients’ physical and emotional wellbeing and works with them to optimize their care. The patient and their family are the most important members of the team.
Dr. Scales enjoys hiking, biking, and traveling with her rescued 100+ pound mastador, toddler, and husband. In her limited free time, she cantors with the Sisters at Assisi Heights.
