Could you please confirm you were joking about having that twist from Overture in your head for 20 years I'm very bad at telling when people are joking

22 years. 1990 to 2013. I had a lot of Overture in my head waiting for a very long time.

Mr Gaiman, I read somewhere that back in the 80s Michael Jackson wanted to play Morpheus, is that true?

In around 1996 I was told by Bill Gerber, who was then Head of Production for Warner Bros, that Michael Jackson had recently called him asking to play Morpheus, yes.

What's your opinion/thoughts on Chuck Tingle?

drchucktingle:

neil-gaiman:

I believe that the world is a better place for having Chuck Tingle in it.

the feeling is mutual true buckaroo @neil-gaiman

chuck has been trotting around the internet for a long time and i will say there are some buds who did not understand my way at first. they were kind enough, but they did not accept me with sincerity and in early days it id not feel great

on other hand, neil gaiman has ALWAYS treated chuck so well and with such immediate and unwavering sincerity. i can confidently say buckaroo neil is one of the few buds who actually GOT my way from day one. chuck and neil have had plenty of quiet talks in the comments or other interactions over the years and i can say with confidence he is a TRUE BUCKAROO who lives and breathes art and expression and kindness.

anyway thank you neil i am glad we are buds LOVE IS REAL

What a lovely way to properly discover that Chuck Tingle is on Tumblr. (I’ve preordered Chuck’s forthcoming Tor horror novel Camp Damascus, by the way.) I’m glad we are buds too.

for someone who has never read your books before, what book would you suggest to be their first? feel free to gush!

There’s a book called The Neil Gaiman Reader, which exists so that new readers have somewhere to start. It’s got about 50 short stories, picked by voters on the internet, and extracts from all the adult novels. That one.

This Tik Tok that just came across my FYP: “Will y’all authors stop using the word ‘cock’?? There’s so many other words!!”

Ma’am, respectfully, that is the least objectionable / most palatable word for that particular reproductive organ

and also respectfully, no, I will not stop 😂

you want me to say “dick”? that’s just caffeine-free diet “cock”

I’m sorry I have to reblog again because @artpigeons‘s tags sent me into orbit

The obsession with finding the perfect unoffensive literary replacement term for cock is how you get actual published books containing the words “throbbing manroot”

#all I’m hearing in my head right now is allison janney saying ‘what’s another word for … engorged?’ (via @loveyourskinnyties)

(eyeroll) Sometimes the right word for cock is, you know, cock.

Don’t let other people’s timorousness put you off. (more eyeroll)

(cc: @petermorwood: cf. The Great Black Cock of Freiburg)

Sometimes you just have to post Eric Idle’s Penis song.
