Napa Valley Community Foundation Recognized for its Impact in the North Bay
North Bay Business Journal recognizes the following organizations for their impact on their communities in Marin, Napa, Sonoma and Solano counties. Winners of the 2022 North Bay Gives Awards will be recognized at an event in Santa Rosa on Wednesday afternoon.

What the group says about its mission
“Pooling the financial and intellectual capital of civic-minded people, the Napa Valley Community Foundation focuses on fighting poverty, championing community, investing in youth, and helping the most vulnerable in our community recover from and prepare for the next disaster.
“Napa Valley Community Foundation was launched in 1994 by a group of civic leaders who looked around and saw that the nearby communities of Sonoma and Marin had Community Foundations that were working with local donors to make positive impacts in their communities. Since Napa did not have a foundation to support the larger needs of the community, this group of visionaries began the work of making sure that Napa Valley had the resources it would need to keep the community thriving.”

Napa Valley Napa Sonoma ADU Center launches program to ease building of accessory homes
A local Accessory Dwelling Unit Plans Program, intended to ease the process of helping homeowners figure out the design and permitting for the junior housing units, has officially launched. And for those curious to see examples of prefabricated small dwellings, four free tour events are scheduled in the city of Napa this month.
ADUs, commonly known as “granny flats” or “in-law units,” are self-contained second residences that can be attached or detached from single-family homes. Development of the homes has become increasingly popular in the past few years, owing to a series of state laws that greatly eased the approval process at the local government level.

COVID-19: See How Far We've Come
Two years ago in March, we went from reading about a global pandemic to living anxiously in its daily grasp.
Today, as we cautiously lift our masks and begin to live and work with some semblance of normalcy, Napa Valley Community Foundation would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to the 344 donors whose generous contributions to our Disaster Relief Fund helped to blunt the economic and health effects of the pandemic for our Valley’s most vulnerable residents.
In the last 24 months, the Foundation has distributed more than $6 million to support emergency financial assistance, childcare, vaccine outreach, testing, remote learning for students and critical services for families like legal aid and counseling — benefitting thousands of people who came into harm’s way because of the pandemic.
