Update on Use of the DRDP in Transitional Kindergarten for Children with IEPs
The California Department of Education is delaying implementation of the DRDP in transitional kindergarten for children with IEPs until the fall of 2023:
“Beginning fall 2023, the California Department of Education, Special Education Division (CDE, SED) will require the completion of the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP (2015) Preschool Fundamental View) for all children with individualized education programs (IEPs) enrolled in transitional kindergarten (TK).”

Join the Desired Results Access Project and the Desired Results Training and Technical Assistance Project as they partner to share information specific to the implementation of the DRDP assessment for all children. The webinars highlight the importance of early childhood educators and early childhood special educators/service providers working together to support children's authentic assessment and ways to share children's learning and development with families.

Learn how to use the Early Learning Foundations along with the DRDP to understand children's development and plan intentional invitations to learning.

Reminder of Required DRDP Courses for Special Education
The California Department of Education, Special Education Division requires DRDP training for all early childhood special educators who assess children with the DRDP. SELPAs are responsible for ensuring that all staff who administer the DRDP complete training.
- All courses are provided in the Desired Results Access Project's Learning Center, DRAccessLearn.org.
- Create an account in DRAccessLearn.org. Download the User's Guide if you need assistance.
