Likewise with the raised crosswalk, etc--none of these are as dangerous as the "do nothing option," let alone the "remove the crosswalk" option

This is interesting—in the last couple years Saudi Arabia opened a high-speed rail line between Mecca and Medina (by way of Jeddah on the coast). It goes nearly 200 mph. There was a railway through the Hejaz in Ottoman times, but not in the modern era until now.

This is one amazing document: ambassadors at the Liang court from 526-539 CE, China. National Museum of China. Most of them are from our homeland: Merv, Balkh, Kunduz, Qubadiyon and Hephthalite. Notice that the Balkhi and Hephthalite ambassadors are the only clean-shaved ones.

I was in a meeting today with Spanish Fork's Traffic Safety Committee about this dangerous school crossing. They effectively said nothing can be done to improve student safety because vehicle speed is the priority. Their preferred "solution" is to simply remove the crosswalk.

COPPER mining starts with drilling. Drill rigs runs on DIESEL fuel. And they burn a lot. In copper mines, fleets of drills run in shifts, often 24/7. The drills require tires, lubricating oil, grease, dust control systems, and sophisticated electronics, maintenance, etc.
