not because they expect that will stop kids from crossing the street, but because that will shift the burden of responsibility onto those kids (instead of the drivers)

I was in a meeting today with Spanish Fork's Traffic Safety Committee about this dangerous school crossing. They effectively said nothing can be done to improve student safety because vehicle speed is the priority. Their preferred "solution" is to simply remove the crosswalk. ๐Ÿงต

COPPER mining starts with drilling. Drill rigs runs on DIESEL fuel. And they burn a lot. In copper mines, fleets of drills run in shifts, often 24/7. The drills require tires, lubricating oil, grease, dust control systems, and sophisticated electronics, maintenance, etc.

i mean they don't technically need to be "police" but whoever they are will need to - have sufficient authority to tell people to stop unwanted behavior - have sufficient force to remove people who refuse to cooperate

Iโ€™ve taken transit most days of my life & Iโ€™ve never seen anything as bad as the @metrolosangeles Red Line every night this year. I do NOT want police on transit. But something must be done, itโ€™s beyond unacceptable to make anyone endure this, especially the poorest Angelenos.
