LATEST FROM THE FAMILY ROOM BLOG
Since 1989, October has been a time to raise awareness of the impacts of domestic violence and highlight the support available to those who have survived or are experiencing it.
The American Rescue Plan (ARP) at ACF
The American Rescue Plan (ARP) provides critical and unprecedented support to children, families, and communities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting economic downturn, which have been exacerbated by historic racial injustices. As one of the largest stimulus packages in U.S. history, ARP endowed ACF with $47.5 billion in supplemental funding to further our mission and meet the needs of the children, families, and communities we serve now, as well as build a strong foundation for the next generation.
October is Head Start Awareness Month
Since 1965, Head Start programs have helped young children get ready to succeed in school and in life through learning experiences tailored to their changing needs and abilities. To achieve this, Head Start programs deliver services to children age birth to 5 and their families in core areas of early learning, health, and family well-being.
Each year, Head Start programs serve more than 1 million children and pregnant women in urban, suburban, and rural communities across every U.S. state and territory. Head Start programs support family well-being by helping parents achieve family goals, such as housing stability, continued education, and financial security.
Every October, we celebrate the impact Head Start programs have had on children, families and communities for generations. Join us in celebrating Head Start Awareness Month and highlighting what Head Start programs do, who they serve, and how they help communities nationwide.
