My initial take here is "tell me you've never been part of a team before without actually telling me you've never been part of a team."...
I'm definitely open to hearing more, but to me the "don't trust" part of the PR process is only really applicable in FOSS repos...
Quote Tweet
You need PRs when:
• You don’t trust the code
• You don't trust the person writing the code
• You don’t trust the process used to write the code
• You don’t trust the system used to check in the code
Maybe we should dump the PRs and work on that trust thing instead?

“Hey , your driver made a U-Turn on our lawn yesterday, damaging grass and likely the sprinklers, both of which are likely several hundred dollars each in damage. Can you guarantee repairs?”
Uber’s response: Lol, Nah. Here’s a $5 credit, go buy some candy like a good boy

How to make harder for parents and people with full time jobs to apply to a company.
Make them work before! Then claim on your website that you "value diversity".

Hard disagree: the log4j vulnerability is only proof that we need to move away from writing software entirely 🙊 🤣

Ever notice how the media always focuses on the costs of tackling big problems but never mentions the costs of doing nothing about them?

I have a case where debugging AND deploying in prod is expected:
Trauma Surgeons are a lot like software engineering: they debug in prod, and deploy in prod.
And without tests. Unit tests are impossible, you can get a integration one.

First time smoking, used a Weber kettle. Made some short rib. OMG it came out incredible. 7.5 hours well spent.
Now to decide what to smoke next…

You keep using the word "debate" and I'd wager that's part of the problem. It sounds like you've created a culture of debate vs a culture of communication.

Tying healthcare to employment is one of the most hostile things to entrepreneurship you can do.
If you ostensibly care about supporting small business, you should care about universal healthcare.

So I needed to write a conversion script to rewrite all the URLs in every post.
QA beta site, and appears everything is working.
That was 4 hours wasted.
And why? None of the code I'm working with ever sees production. I statically generate into an S3 bucket.
sigh...

The new version of Node isn't compatible with the site generator I use (Hexo). So upgrade Hexo.
Upgraded Hexo doesn't work with 80% of plugins I used. Figure out how to get plugins working.
New Hexo version changed how it treats permalinks (no docs).

Wanted to write a blog post this morning. Took about an hour to write the post, and then about 4 hours to get my blog generator working again.
First, CircleCI's Jesse image is broken (APT key expiry). Then Stretch includes a new version of Node.JS.

Alt: Move slower. Stop often and ask why you're moving, and toward what. Rest. Put relationships first. Rest. Paint "no one needs more products on a dying earth" above your office door. Respect your boundaries and others'. Rest. Repeat frequently: "productivity culture is a scam"

Finally caught up with #AdventOfCode. Has been really fun, with some real challenges in there.
That got me thinking. Any particular day/problem you’d like to see me tackle again on a recording or maybe on a live stream?

Just to be clear, he's literally saying that making it easier to vote makes it harder for Republicans to win.

Why is Georgia Secretary of State Raffensperger working so hard to add drop boxes and take other steps to make it harder for Republicans to win. Is he really that intimidated by Stacey Abrams?

Holy Shit. Florida GOPer caught on tape telling fellow FL GOPers to make false voter registrations in Georgia so they could vote to save Loeffler and Perdue. He in fact DID register in Georgia and is now under investigation. wsbtv.com/news/politics/

The most desperate thing about the US is if you talk to ordinary citzens, even those on the republican side then you quickly discover it's a socialist country in denial. US citizens actually do believe in care for others, an ethics of care, a national health service etc.

The American people can't afford to wait any longer.
Every working class American needs $2,000 a month.
Every unemployed American needs $600 a week.
Every American needs healthcare as a human right.
No one in America should go hungry or homeless.
The do-nothing Senate must act.

AOC isn't telling red state Democrats they have to adopt her platform. She's telling them they need to stop sleeping at the wheel, build a ground game, be accessible to voters and coordinate with the national party. Tons of Democrats lost this year because they did none of those.

As I understand it, AOC’s message is this: There’s nothing stopping moderate Democrats from building institutional capacity, adopting cutting-edge techniques, and modernizing their campaign infrastructure, and progressives are willing to help if they want it.

While the GOP has been great at making bad policy sound good (“repeal and replace!” Get rid of the “death tax!” etc), the left has a knack for making good policy sound bad (“Defund the police!” “Pack the courts!”). It’s a real problem

*Failure to comprehend and properly explain* Defund the Police cost Democrats in House and Senate races. FIFY. The slogan, standing alone, is a killer. The principle behind it is 100% accurate. Dems spend so much time running from winning issues.

yet Democrats are still afraid to run on anything other than "law and order! support our cops! jail the looters!"

This exchange is so fundamental.
Even progressives are convinced that there's a tradeoff btwn Biden "moving left" on policy, & winning. There isn't.
They've tricked us into thinking it's risky for a politician to adopt issues that overwhelming majorities of Americans support.
