2020 Mom has provided me with countless opportunities as a stay-at-home-mom to learn about maternal mental illness and what I can do within my own community to help other moms and families who are suffering. The things I have learned, the activities I have participated in, and the friendships I have made thanks to 2020 Mom have changed my life for the better. The blue dot project has been imperative in my healing of my postpartum depression but even more and is making maternal mental health a national issue bringing voices to increased maternal death rate of African-American women and the need for increased amount of postpartum visits for all women and especially those at an increased risk for PPD or PPA.

2020 Mom played a pivotal role in pulling me out of my postpartum depression and helping me find my voice through advocating for better maternal health care. I found 2020 Mom through their 2019 Mom Congress event, a week I will always remember as the first time I publicly shared my struggle with postpartum depression and anxiety. The experience was cathartic and propelled me to engage in more volunteer opportunities with 2020 Mom to hemp more moms get the help they need while also trying to effectuate change at a national level. 2020 Mom is the nonprofit every mom deserves, helping to connect resources to individual moms and simultaneously advocating at state and federal levels to holistically improve the perinatal period.

I direct a nonprofit prevention/early intervention program that provides support to perinatal individuals in my county and is funded through Proposition 63, The Mental Health Services Act. 2020 Mom is an invaluable resource to our program and staff. The evidence-based training that 2020 Mom offers helps our program stay up-to-date on the latest research and practices in the perinatal mental health field. Every staff member in our program has taken training offered by 2020 Mom. The advocacy and policy work that 2020 Mom does also helps to make a difference in our community and the training that 2020 Mom offers in this area shows our program the steps we can take at a local level to ensure perinatal individuals in our community get the care they need. 2020 Mom truly makes a difference for our program, staff, and community members!

I've known the founder of 2020 Mom and her family's mental health tragedy. I'm inspired by the amount of impact they have made so quickly and with a small budget. It's one of the many reasons I give a couple times of year to 2020 Mom.

My daughter is very instrumental in providing service for as well as receiving benefit from 2020 Moms in the Valencia / Napa California area. I have been blessed with the opportunity to help her in delivering goods and services to area moms in need of assistance and I have seen first hand how much they all appreciate the help and understanding being given by 2020 Moms. I know how much this group benefited my daughter and her husband during and after both of her pregnancies with my two wonderful grandsons. And I how much the organization AND the caring people of the Napa County area mean to my daughter because of the help being dispensed so freely and lovingly. It is always my pleasure to make donations and to support 2020 Moms in any way I can.

2020 Mom is an amazing organization that is doing incredible work with Moms and families. I was introduced to 20/20 Mom by by Doula about a year after I gave birth. I suffered severe perinatal anxiety during my pregnancy, which I didn’t even know was a thing, and then experienced a near miss during my birth experience. I now incorporate what I’ve learned with 2020 Mom in my work as a nurse. Last year, I was able to go to Washington, DC with 2020 Mom as part of Mom Congress, where we spoke with Congressmen/women and Senators advocating for bills and policies related to maternal health care. This was an empowering experience. This knowledge has led me to passionately advocate for Moms everywhere .

Just five stars, this group is passionate and dedicated to bridging the gaps in maternal mental healthcare in so many ways!

2020 Mom has been a great nonprofit to get behind as they are trying to remove the stigma associated with many multiple Maternal mental health complications as my wife suffered Postpartum and then Antepartum Depression, Postpartum and Antepartum Anxiety, and Postpartum OCD with both pregnancies.

An unexpected bonus from making small financial donations to 2020 Moms has been the ability to being invited to attend local community events where my wife has been able to make connections with other Moms who have suffered similar Maternal Mental Health Complications.

This has enabled my wife to create a support network and open up her eyes to many many other avenues of assistance and support that are available for Maternal Mental Health outside of her Primary Care.

I have been a supporter of this nonprofit for two years now, and have been blown away by their advocacy work and dedication to moms. Not only are they totally current on their awareness of laws and topical issues, but they clearly strive to focus on diversity and inclusion, which can be hard to find in the NPO world.

As a 66 year old mother who suffered severe postpartum depression 38 years ago, I know first hand the need for 2020 Mom’s and the support and training they are able to provide mothers to be and brand new Mom’s. This kind of support would have been such a godsend to me many years ago when I was in a deep dark hole with a colicky baby. It is because of my own personal experience that
I support this very important nonprofit organization.

I was first introduced to 2020 Mom when I read an article about gaps in maternal mental health. I was so impressed by a comment from Joy Burkhard (2020 Mom’s Executive Director) that I reached out to see how I could get involved.

2020 Mom does a really nice job of both advocating on behalf of moms and convening stakeholders. Joy and the team have had a significant influence on California legislation related to maternal mental and physical health over the organization’s 9 year history.

2020 Mom is on the cutting edge of new advances in maternal mental health. They work closely with Postpartum Support International, also a premier organization in the field. 2020 Mom offers trainings for those who are wanting to learn more about perinatal mood disorders. They range from free introductory webinars to advanced professional training. As a person who has been interested in the field for a long time, I am so happy 2020 Mom is helping women and their families, as well as professionals, in so many ways.

2020 Mom couldn’t have come at a more critical time in my life. I was just battling back from a severe case of PPD, and everything else under the sun, when I became and ambassador...
Then, Covid hit and everyone with mental illnesses took a huge step backwards. I wasn’t doing too well, but being part of 2020 Mom has literally changed my life.

I’ve met so many wonderful women, all focused on supporting OTHER women!! All ages, all colors, all income levels... doesn’t matter. PPD does not discriminate and we are here to support those who don’t have the strength to speak out, YET!!

I encourage any woman, anyone who wants to support other women and make change, ACTUAL change, within our healthcare and change the stigma, to become an ambassador.
