Overview

Since 1917, Mayo Clinic has been preparing candidates for M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in biomedical sciences. For more than 25 years, Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences has been training students in scholarship and scientific discovery as an independent degree-granting school. Currently, more than 100 students are working toward master's degrees and over 200 are working toward doctoral degrees.

Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine matriculated its first class in 1972. For more than 40 years, a world-class faculty of physicians and scientists has educated aspiring physicians in patient-centered, science-driven, team-based, high-value health care. Founded on Mayo Clinic's 150-year tradition of patient-centered care, Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine is highly innovative and selective, cultivating future physician leaders through a broad array of unparalleled learning opportunities.

2022 commencement

Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine celebrated several milestones at 2022 commencement. It was the first time commencement ceremonies were hosted by the school at all three campus locations. It was the first time Mayo Clinic in Florida graduated a full cohort of medical students.

Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences also celebrated its graduates at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, during a joint ceremony with Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine.
