Monod Bio raised $25 million to develop molecular biosensors that light up when they bind their target. The sensors can be designed to detect molecules linked to disease and they also have potential for industrial applications.

Seattle startup aiming to detect, treat Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease raises cash

University of Washington spinout AltPep recently raised $44.4 million, according to a regulatory filing. Founder and CEO Valerie Daggett spoke with GeekWire about AltPep’s progress on its experimental blood test to detect Alzheimer’s disease at the earliest stages.

Suicide prevention training for health care providers a first step in longer-term efficacy

Most people who die by suicide had contact with the health care system in the year before their deaths – but only about one-third have received mental health services. This means that primary care and emergency room doctors, nurses and other specialists may be more often positioned to evaluate a person in crisis.
