About us
The AmeriCorps Volunteer Infrastructure Project (VIP) program inspires community volunteerism, connecting community members with their neighbors in need. AmeriCorps VIP places AmeriCorps members, called VIP Fellows, in leadership positions who lead “behind the scenes” in nonprofits and schools to build sustainable volunteer programs. Fellows do this through: 1) building systems to track, support, manage, and train volunteers; 2) recruiting one-time and skills-based volunteers; and 3) raising funds to support the volunteer program. Example Partner Sites include: Sonoma County Family YMCA, Jewish Family Services of San Diego, OneOC of Orange County, United Way Ventura County, HandsOn Central California, and many others. Fellows spend the majority of their service at their Partner Site collaborating with professional staff to build systems of volunteer management. VIP Fellows also spend time in the community, building partnerships and connecting community members with service opportunities. VIP Fellows are a part of a statewide network of 120 Fellows. VIP Fellows lead volunteers and inspire communities to support important service efforts through meaningful service programs that change lives. STAFF VOLUNTEER TRAINING OPPORTUNITY Have you ever wished you or your staff could receive more training and support in volunteer engagement & best practices? Perhaps you have new staff that need professional development in volunteer management? Building off the success of our AmeriCorps VIP program increasing volunteer capacity across CA, we are excited to be launching our newest initiative, the Volunteer Infrastructure Training Academy (VITA). This 2 year, grant funded program will provide 1-3 staff members at your nonprofit or school essential training and expert-level support for building or re-VITA-lizing your volunteer program (see what we did there?). Thanks to funding provided from AmeriCorps’ Volunteer Generation Fund, this program is offered at NO COST to you, and participating agencies are eligible to receive up to $8,000 for successful completion of VITA requirements.
