Raymundo, Larsen lead NVC women’s golf team at Big 8 Conference tournament

AMERICAN CANYON – Melanie Raymundo didn’t let a three-putt and a double-bogey 6 on the very first hole of Thursday’s Big 8 Conference tournament get her down.
She went right back to work, making par on the second hole at Chardonnay Golf Club & Vineyards, the home course for the Napa Valley College women’s golf team.
“There’s no time to think about what happened on the first hole. There’s plenty of golf left. It was the first hole, so I can’t get down. There’s 17 holes left. I definitely did not get down,” said Raymundo, a freshman.
“Nothing is going to affect Melanie,” said Napa Valley head coach Bob Freschi. “She’s been through this before. She’s a mature young lady that will just continue to do what it takes to get the ball in the hole.”
Raymundo was happy with the consistency of her swing, with driving and her second shots, and also her short game.
Bella Dubois doing it all for NVC volleyball team
Bella Dubois can do it all for the Napa Valley College volleyball team.
She can serve and put down kills.
She can put up a block at the net, pass and return shots.
Dubois, a 5-foot-10 sophomore, is also a leader for the Storm, as she is a team captain.
“With this being her third year with us, she knows the ropes. She knows how we operate,” Napa Valley coach Chelsea Reilley said. “Just having somebody that’s been here for as long as she has, has been extremely helpful, bringing the new people up to speed and helping lead the team on the court.”
Larsen’s 78 leads NVC women’s golf team in three-way match at Chardonnay
MERICAN CANYON – The Napa Valley College women’s golf team was not able to post a team score on Tuesday, as the Storm was missing three players during a three-way match against Reedley College and Sacramento City College at Chardonnay Golf Club & Vineyards.
“They were unable to attend today. And we missed them,” Storm coach Bob Freschi said. “But we have a (Big 8) Conference match coming up on Thursday and hopefully we get at least two more to compete for a team score. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen today, but today was a tri-practice match and not a conference match.
“Really proud of our three ladies that were here and they played really well – Alexis (Larsen), Makayla (Kearney) and Mya (Brooks).”

NVC men’s soccer team looking to play with greater consistency
The Napa Valley College men’s soccer team is seeking more than just its first win of the 2022 season.
There are some other things that the Storm is also looking for.
First and foremost is playing with greater consistency, head coach Rogelio Ochoa pointed out.
“We know we can perform, and do better as a team and individually,” said Ochoa. “We know that. But we just have to put it on the field and show it with the results.”
