I am the founder and director of Brooklyn Parent Support. I am a midwife and psychiatric nurse practitioner, and I specialize in medication management for pregnancy and lactation. I am passionate about group support for pregnant and postpartum clients.
I attended nursing school at NYU, then received a Master’s in Nurse Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University, and a Post Master’s in Psychiatric Nursing from NYU. I have also completed post graduate training in psychotherapy. I have a broad range of nursing experience, and ten years of experience as a midwife. In the course of that experience I decided to focus on perinatal mental health, an area where I saw a major lack of services.
My goal is to reduce mental health stigma and promote access to care for all parents. I welcome all types of families to our practice, and babies are always invited to your session.
I am in network with United, Oxford, Oscar, Aetna, Cigna, BCBS and Northwell Direct.
I am an ANCC board certified nurse practitioner of psychiatry with specialized training in perinatal psychopharmacology and psychotherapy. Prior to working in mental health I was a neonatal and pediatric critical care nurse for six years.
I became an advocate for maternal mental health screening and intervention in pediatric intensive care units . I loved this work, and it has been the foundation for my interest in perinatal psychiatry. I went on to earn my masters in psychiatric mental health nursing at New York University, completing clinical training at NYU, and Bellevue Hospital. I also completed specialized training at Zucker Hillside Hospital in the Department of Perinatal Psychiatry.
I join Brooklyn Parent Support after experience working at Columbia University (2019- 2021) as part of an integrative women’s mental health team embedded in obstetrics and gynecology, where I provided psychotherapy and medication management to preconception, pregnant and postpartum clients. I have a special interest in working with individuals coping with stress related to infertility and medical complications during the perinatal period, including, high-risk pregnancy, fetal diagnosis, congenital anomalies, NICU stays and transitions home after a NICU hospitalization. I am in network with United, Oxford, Oscar, Aetna and Cigna.
I am a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a focus in perinatal psychiatry and women’s health. I believe in a collaborative and patient-tailored approach using evidence-based practice and therapeutic modalities and an understanding of my clients’ unique needs and preferences. I hold a DSW and MSW from NYU Silver School of Social Work and a post-graduate certificate in Advanced Clinical Practice. My work experience in the field has encompassed several positions involving assessing and treating trauma in children, adolescents, and adults. I participated in a Clinical Social Work Fellowship at the Yale Child Study Center Outpatient Psychiatric Clinic for Children. I am bilingual (Spanish) and previously worked at the Mount Sinai World Trade Center Mental Health Program, providing evaluation, psychotherapeutic, and referral services for 9/11 first responders. Recently, I worked as a staff psychotherapist at the Larchmont Mamaroneck Community Counseling Center providing individual, family, and group counseling services to Southern Westchester County's Spanish-speaking community. I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner, and doctor of nursing practice. I graduated from New York University with my bachelor’s degree in psychology and child and adolescent mental health studies. I then completed my MSN at Columbia University in 2019 and worked as a pediatric RN and PMHNP intern at a health and social services agency in New York City. There I worked with families involved in the foster care system and served as an advocate for parents of color. I completed clinical training in reproductive psychiatry with Rebecca Feldman, while completing my doctoral studies. Currently, I teach Developmental Psychology as an adjunct professor at Columbia. I also co-created and co-facilitate a weekly support group for Black/Latinx parents. I am dedicated to mental health equity for parents overall, however, I recognize the major gaps and worries uniquely impacting parents of color. I am here to listen and help you along your journey. I accept patients for both psychotherapy and medication management. I am in network with United, Oxford, Oscar, Aetna, Cigna, BCBS and Northwell Direct.
Before I became a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I was a midwife at a New York City public hospital for 20 years. Prior to becoming a midwife, I worked with incarcerated victims of intimate partner violence, and at a rape crisis organization. My life has shown me that everyone has inner resources that can, when supported, be brought to bear in times of pain. Holly is accepting new clients for preconception, pregnancy and postpartum medication management and consultation. In network with United, Oxford, Oscar, Aetna, BCBS and Cigna.
