Meghan Markle raged at 'RACIST' Vanity Fair cover when she began dating Harry, new book

Meghan agreed to do an interview with Vanity Fair for their October 2017 issue (left). Ostensibly to mark the 100th episode of Suits, the interview was, in effect, Meghan's big launch. Rhe couple were not officially engaged - though everyone in Kensington Palace knew they had been privately engaged since the late summer - but this was Meghan putting herself out there in a confident, pro-active way. With a glamorous picture of the actress on the cover, all hair and freckles, and a headline that proclaimed loudly 'She's Just Wild About Harry', the article quoted Meghan speaking openly about her romance with the prince.Sweet, yes? And she looked great, didn't she? But Meghan hated it. And she was furious with Keleigh Thomas Morgan. 'She was very unhappy with how that had been handled,' said a source. 'And she was looking to throw blame in every possible direction, despite it having been a positive piece. She did not like the photographs. She thought the story was negative. She was upset that it was about Harry, not about her.' And the clincher? It was racist. What upset her was the headline. She and Harry pointed out that the song, 'I'm Just Wild About Harry', had been performed by Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney as a blackface number in the 1939 film Babes In Arms (inset).

Transgender paedophile moved prison wings after starting a relationship with female

Dixon is now among the 500-plus inmates at HMP Bronzefield, near Ashford, Surrey - the UK's only purpose-built private women's prison. She has been there for less than three months, since being convicted in early July. However, the Mail can reveal that shortly after arriving at Bronzefield she had to be transferred to a different wing, after starting a relationship with a 'vulnerable' inmate. Still more disturbingly, a prison source told us the woman Dixon targeted had 'learning difficulties' and mental health issues.

Guardsman, 18, who walked alongside the Queen's coffin during her funeral procession is

A 'wonderful' young guardsman who took part in the Queen's state funeral has tragically been found dead at his barracks, MailOnline can reveal today. Trooper Jack Burnell-Williams, 18, played a key role in the extraordinary procession guarding Her Majesty's coffin as it was carried on a majestic gun carriage from Westminster Abbey, through Whitehall, down The Mall and past Buckingham Palace to Wellington Arch earlier this month. Police and paramedics from London Ambulance Service raced to Hyde Park Barracks in Knightsbridge, central London after the alarm was raised at 3.48pm on Wednesday. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said they are not treating the death as suspicious. On the day of the Queen's funeral, the soldier's family proudly posted video footage of troops from the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment taking part in the ceremony, saying that their son was 'doing his duty for the Queen on her final journey'.

Celebrating Beckham style! Victoria arrives at her after party as she joins her whole

The Beckhams were out in force to celebrate Victoria's successful debut Paris Fashion Week show. Fashion designer Victoria, 48, walked hand-in-hand with her daughter Harper, 11, who was dressed in one of her yellow gowns with a pair of trainers as they joined the rest of the clan for a night out in the French capital. Earlier in the evening, her son Brooklyn, 23, and his wife Nicola, 27, put rumours of a family feud to bed as they attended Victoria's show and sat in the front row - after arriving half an hour early to wish her good luck.

The Beckhams beamed for their public family reunion. So is this REALLY the end of the

The front row of a fashion show is probably one of the most 'kissy-kissy' places on earth. A place where affection - even if it's entirely insincere - is often on full display. And yet, at Victoria Beckham's inaugural show at Paris Fashion Week yesterday, that was noticeably absent. Shortly before the show of Mrs Beckham's Spring/Summer 2023 collection, modelled by Bella Hadid among others, came the spectacle of the Beckham family's oh-so-public reunion.

Amateur sleuth was convinced Ian Brady arranged victims' bodies to create Nazi symbol on

Russell Edwards was just 21 when he first went up to Saddleworth Moor looking for the murder victims. It was 1987 and he had been moved by a newspaper article appealing for volunteers to help find Ian Brady and Myra Hindley's first victim, Pauline Reade. It was to be the start of a life-long fascination with the infamous case and other unsolved crimes. The amateur sleuth, now 56, has hitherto been best known for his work on another serial killer. In September 2014 Mr Edwards published a book identifying Polish-born Aaron Kosminski as Jack the Ripper based on DNA extracted from a shawl said to be found at the murder scene of one of the victims.

Putin threatens to use nuclear bombs to defend his 'new territories' in Ukraine as he annexes four oblasts - and tells thousands of cheering supporters in Red Square: 'Victory will be ours'

An increasingly unhinged Vladimir Putin tonight ludicrously boasted 'victory will be ours' seven months into his squalid invasion of Ukraine after the Russian tyrant illegally annexed four territories from Kyiv in the biggest military land grab since the Second World War. The warmonger told thousands of flag-waving Russians gathered outside the gates of the Kremlin for a celebratory concert in Moscow's Red Square that people in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions had chosen to rejoin their 'historic motherland' - after his regime staged fake referendums there and rigged the outcomes at gunpoint. Flanked by the leaders of their Russian-backed administrations as the multi-coloured spires of the 16th century St Basil's Cathedral loomed in the background, Putin vowed that Moscow would do everything to support the newly annexed regions, boost their security and rebuild their economies. He then proclaimed: 'Welcome home!', before prompting chants of 'Russia! Russia!' from the enormous crowd gathered in the vast square.

Meet the men paying £70,000 for an excruciating leg-lengthening operation to make them

When Daniel Asadi (pictured: middle) was 14, he was told by his doctor that his growing phase was all but over. 'He said I was pretty much done,' recalls Daniel today. At nearly 5 ft 7 in, Daniel was already a reasonable height - but the words were still a 'stab in the heart.' 'It's really hard for a lot of people to understand, but I couldn't handle it,' he says. 'It was this one thing I didn't have, and it was on my mind day and night.' Not any more. In May last year - 11 years on from that distressing doctor's appointment - Daniel, then 25, underwent leg-lengthening surgery to gain the height he so desperately craved.

'Beautiful' woman, 21,died after wardrobe crushed her in Liverpool's historic Adelphi

A 'beautiful' young woman who died 'accidentally' at Liverpool's historic Adelphi Hotel (inset) was crushed by a wardrobe after she woke in the middle of the night and mistook it for the toilet door. Chloe Haynes (left and right), 21, was found dead at the renowned city centre hotel at 6.37am on September 10 after emergency services rushed to the scene following a 'concern for safety'. Her heartbroken mother Nicola Williams, 49, has revealed that the wardrobe is believed to have fallen from the wall and crushed her windpipe. Miss Williams, from Wrexham, said: 'Chloe left Pwllheli around 7.40pm and they went to the Adelphi, there was some sort of engagement party or something.

After nine days on Gywneth Paltrow's Goop cruise, JAN MOIR's feeling far from well...

JAN MOIR: After being delayed by storms, Gwyneth Paltrow (left) joined Goopies on day six of the inaugural, nine-day Goop at Sea cruise in the Mediterranean (right) and her fans couldn't be more delighted. Goop devotees on this cruise are understandably thrilled that their heroine has chosen to spend part of her 50th birthday celebrations here on board with them, saluting the Goop brand she started as a kitchen table blog and built into a £220 million business. Gwyneth takes unladylike swigs straight from a big bottle of ferocious-looking black liquid and jokes about having a martini and a Xanax the night before. At least I think she is joking. Tanned and wearing a grey trouser suit with white trainers, she has just turned 50 but still has that dazzling California-girl smile, along with her trademark blonde hair - and that famously honed and toned body that looks good in nothing but gold paint.

BBC Radio 2 host Steve Wright (pictured left) said there is 'no tension, just fun, celebration and thanks' when he kicked off his final afternoon show as it comes to an end after 23 years. The veteran DJ, 68, started with OMC's 90s classic How Bizarre as he kicked off the three-hour stint of his last ever afternoon show, before telling listeners he 'doesn't want to go to bits'. He told listeners that he really appreciated 'the outpouring of goodwill towards the programme', before thanking everyone who has worked on the show since it began in 1999, and emphasized that he is 'not retiring' from the airwaves for good. Heartbroken listeners took to social media to express what the show meant to them, detailing how they had been with him 'from the start', while others vowed to 'enjoy every minute' of his last afternoon show.

Danish royal family is 'in the midst its own Megxit, expert says

Queen Margrethe, 82, has removed princely titles from four of her eight grandchildren, saying it is 'for their own good' - prompting a bitter royal row with her family redolent of when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex quit the UK and emigrated to California in January 2020. Europe's only reigning Queen was inspired to revoke their titles by other royals - including her late cousin Queen Elizabeth II - and claimed it was to allow the four children of her younger son, Prince Joachim: Nikolai, Felix, Henrik and Athena, to live more normal lives. It follows similar moves by other royal families in Europe, including the Windsors, to slim down their monarchies, the Danish palace said later. But her decision has 'upset' her second son Joachim and his four children. His eldest sons Nikolai and Felix - from his first marriage - have been branded 'playboy princes' because they are professional models who failed to complete their two-year military education after both concluded it was 'not right for them'.

As millions continue to be stung in the pocket by soaring heating and fuel prices, figures compiled by MailOnline, pictured, have revealed how the ballooning costs of household favourites are now eating into the weekly budgets of cash-strapped families. Cupboard staples such as milk, spaghetti and Heinz baked beans, have seen some of the largest increases in the last 12 months. The average cost of bottle of Morrisons milk is now 40.6 per cent higher than it was last year, while Tesco's own brand of spaghetti - a favourite for families on a budget - has rocketed by 60.4 per cent, according to data from Trolley.co.uk's Grocery Price Index.

Question Time audience gasps as first-time buyer reveals mortgage lender told her best

Rabia was responding to a question on mortgages on yesterday's BBC programme after a turbulent week for UK markets following the government's mini-budget last Friday. She said: 'I was told my initial interest rate would be 4.5 percent. I was told today that the lender has pulled that offer and now the best offer I can get is about 10.5 percent. I'm being told, you need to immediately look at putting your application through because if you don't, the lenders may even pull these offers. As a first time buyer I don't think I can now afford to get a mortgage.'

John Lennon-lookalike eco protester who tied himself to the goalposts during match is

Dorset-born student radical Louis McKechnie stormed the grounds at Goodison Park on March 17 wearing an orange Just Stop Oil T-shirt and attached himself by his neck to the goalpost using a metal-enforced zip tie in a 'reckless' and 'potentially very dangerous' climate change protest. The 21-year-old activist, who has been arrested about 20 times, halted play for about 10 minutes before the stadium's staff prised him free with a huge pair of bolt cutters and hauled off the pitch by police to the sounds of boos and jeers from thousands of incensed football fans. Footage filmed for a YouTube video showed McKechnie walking down the steps in the stand and climbing over a gate to get onto the pitch, as one fan shouted at him: 'F*** off you blert.' At a trial at South Sefton Magistrates' Court, McKechnie has been found guilty of aggravated trespass and sentenced to six weeks in prison. The protester was also given a £50 fine, or one day in detention, for going onto the playing area, made subject to a three-year football banning order and ordered to pay £500 towards prosecution costs.

Furious Russian conscripts turn on their commander: Top officer 'is beaten after telling reservists ''you are all cannon fodder, you are facing slaughter'' as video shows punch-up in make-shift barracks

A top Russian officer reportedly had his face smashed during a brawl with furious conscripts after telling them their lives were going to be thrown away on the front lines in Ukraine. The mobilised recruits turned on the Russian lieutenant-colonel after he bluntly said: 'You are all cannon fodder, you are facing slaughter.' The high-ranking officer had his face 'smashed' and bones in his face broken in a brawl in which 'every single one of them was drunk', say reports. Many of the reservists - among hundreds of thousands thrown into the war under a Vladimir Putin decree - were left distraught after being told they will die at the front. However, the commander was likely being accurate in saying the Putin call-up will lead to mass deaths of untrained reservists sent to the front. It is just the latest tale of chaos, fighting and drunkenness among newly mobilised Russian conscripts, with reports of many being sent to front lines with little or zero training and being told to buy their own supplies and equipment.

Putin accuses 'Anglo-Saxons' of blowing up Nord Stream pipe as experts reveal undersea blasts were equal to 'several hundred kilos of TNT' and huge gas cloud drifts over Britain

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has accused the 'Anglo-Saxon' powers of organising blasts that resulted in multiple gas leaks on the Nord Stream gas pipelines from Russia to Europe. The mysterious leaks were caused by an explosion equal to hundreds of kilograms of TNT and measuring 2.3 on the Richter Scale, a Danish-Swedish report said. All countries have denied the charges while pointing the finger at each other, with Putin now making a fresh accusation against Britain and the US of orchestrating the blasts. 'Sanctions are not enough for the West, they have switched to sabotage... by organising explosions on the Nord Stream international gas pipelines that run along the bottom of the Baltic Sea,' Putin said during a televised speech at a Kremlin ceremony to annex four Moscow-occupied regions of Ukraine. It has seen a huge methane cloud emanating from the bottom of the Baltic Sea drifting out over Scandinavia before coming down to blanket Britain since the mysterious blasts on Monday September 26. Norwegian research institute NILU calculated that at least 80,000 tons of methane have escaped into the atmosphere as of September 30 - more than four times the annual methane emission from the Norwegian oil and gas industry, a top ten producer.
